DSLR/DSLT for Newbie

hmmmm..........
You want IS for a 50mm prime and are ok with buying a telephoto without IS. You need to do some serious research.
Not i thought shooting nature photography using tripod, so never think about vr. Whereas everyday shooting will be without tripod, most time. Corrent if im wrong. Will be getting one on saturday so guide me on it. And thanks.

it was for D7k, what did you choose .... D3200 ????
D5200 wouldn't have been a bad choice either.
First things first, decide on one thing .... you need a pro camera or you have a budget ????
If you read clearly you may find it. Im on 30k budget and he offered a deal which is out of my budget. D5200 would be 10k more, i'll better invest in lens than body.

You wont get IS in 50mm primes (not for Nikon F mounts). 50mm f/1.8D is a pretty good lens. Do your research though.
Its upto you to decide on kit lens. I didnt get it. My guess is, after few weeks, you will get to know if you need longer or wider lens.

For telephoto - 70-300mm VR seems to be pretty good. But there are others too. I dont know much about the longer focal length lenses.

I got D7000 and 50mm f/1.4D few months back. I am tending more towards wide angle. So might get Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 in few months.
Others on my list -
Sigma 10-20mm or Tokina 11-16mm - I might not buy these but rent whenever I need
Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 - This is pretty tempting as I am interested in portraits.
Nikon/Sigma 105mm macro - Plan to get this once I get some more related stuff. This might take a year to year and a half.

PS: Remember, macro lenses are also pretty good for portraits.

Thanks man, the various article i read dosent mention that prime dosent come with image stabilization. Will get the body and 50mm f/1.8 prime like you suggested. I cant find telephoto lens with vr within 10k budget. Maybe i'll wait to extend the budget else get a 2nd hand. Btw, getting on streets, will i avail warranty. And whats with telephoto lens does macro thing?

Ps. Whats your theme of photographing?

50mm on the budget/mid range DSLRs is getting in to Tele territory due to the crop sensor on these cameras.

To get a magnification similar to a 50mm on a full frame you would need a 35mm
