Hehehehe. All this talk about someone who's gonna make a purchase only 2 months later and innocently posted in another thread. :D

@Anish: Am not planning to buy the 18-200 Sigma, it's the Sony 18-250 which is essentially rebadged Tamron 18-250 with a faster AF and better Bokeh. :) There's only one Sigma lens in there which is the 10-20mm which BF1983 has already talked about. :D The 3rd was a Tamrom 17-50 f2.8, which again has damn good review.

BUT, a huge disclaimer here. I'm saying all this out of 2ndary opinion, I'd really want a chance to try these cameras out in-hand personally. So, here's the question: How did you livin in Goa get a chance at a camera which is just being mass available in the US! Please to tell. :) And what do you do. :D

PS: Am making all these decisions after considerable discussion on other forums - mainly dpreview, which has most people concerned with taking photographs then measuring graphs. :D I agree the pros use Canon/Nikon, that's because of a multitude of reasons not necessarily meant for the amateur enthusiast. :)

PPS: Am not fighting for Sony here nor justifying my stance for Sony. Am open to suggestions...as long as they fit in the logical scheme of things. I really wanna try out these cams. :(

Hehe, I never tried the 40D before buying it. I'd shot on a 350D, 10D, 400D and 5D previously, so I knew my way around DSLR's. As for the purchase, I bought it from Photocircle, Bangalore (Same place where Chaos got his 40D), super duper guy!

As for that I do, as I mentioned earlier, I'm a Engg student but into LOADS of other stuff, catch me on MSN if you need more ;)

And for forums, dump dpreview and move to fredmiranda.com, that's one site really really filled with pros and truckloads of knowledge. dpreview is more of a flamewar-troll kinda site.

I'll agree about the flamewars, blind-loyalty and trolling at times. :) But some of the forums, especially the Sony P&S, Panasonic P&S forums are just about people taking great photographs with their non-DSLRs and posting them...and much lesser about gearheads and gadgets. That's why I like being there. Though it's very difficult to get a unbiased opinion...it's more about the photograph itself. :)

I've been stalking fredmiranda for the last couple of days. :D :D
