I disconnected Tata sky almost a year back and switched to LCO. I got many calls from TATA sky asking to activate the connection and Refused everytime. Recently after almost an year I got a call now He wanted to offer some Exciting plan.
According to person on the call, I get the 220/mo Dhaamal Mix pack (which i was previously using) would be 150/mo If i recharge for 6 months and he says this is special plan for customers who stopped using their services and this Special plan would continue even after renewals..

so a plan that costs usually Rs 1,200 for 6 months would cost me Rs 900.

Anyone got such Retention plans after you disconnected your connection from your provider? Please Share. It should be helpful for the one's who want to save.. You know how we Bargained with Airtel Broadband Retention Team :D

Unless and until the deal's given in writing, don't fall into the trap. After recharging for 900 bucks, who's accountable for the validity/monthly charge of the pack ? What's to stop them from charging normal fees from ya ? I wouldn't trust them after they ****ed their annual subscribers with the "Specials" channels !

Yeah i understand how this Retention thing works.
I never went for that plan, Well Like Samsung, Tata Sky is on my Hate list. Don't like that product anymore which sounds more of money ripper.
Any one else got such Retention plans?

dont see it from videocon. they just have to pay 17 bucks as connection charge for an inactive connection
however, only airtel and tata seems keen on retention.

^ 10 Bucks as an penalty for TATA sky for inactive connection.
I guess Tata sky lost many connections in the past 12-18 months when the Package prices were revised every 4-5 months.

How many of you surrendered the boxes to the company? The guy on the call was apparently asking for box indirectly... I told him i threw it somewhere.

Got some exciting offer yesterday.
I decided to re-activate my Tata Sky connection.. asked them for an special offer they gave the Metro Pack Semi annual for Rs.875 which actually costs Rs.1920

Best of luck disengaging from them.

retention plans are pretty common in DTH industry. Many users in saveondish and indiabroadband forum have benefitted from these retntion plans. Arguably unethical, but many users are keeping 2-3 dish installed at their premises and use them one after another to get best plans on retention.

Not New. I tried this before. used to get 20% discount on packs and now its 55% due to competition.
Got Supreme Sports Kids Annual pack for 1400 and Metro pack Semi-Annual for 875.
Went with Metro pack.

@bigbyte Do let us know if you have got any retention plan or anyone you know. Helps a lot.

I have only one dish at home and that is always active. So no chance for any retention plan. But if you head to two the mentioned forums, you'll get many posts where the users are benefited from retention plans.

Regular subscribers look like fools after reading about such retention plans. My subscription ends in April. I wonder if I'll get such offers if I don't continue ...

Call up the customer care and ask them to connect to the offer dept. Tell them you are switching to LCO or d2H.
Ask them for 40-50% discount packs.
The Type of people Tata Sky now employs who come without uniform, tells me they deserve the LCO pricing.

TataSky increased prices of all base packs by Rs 20. Add on and other packs (like HD access, specials, etc) probably will increase by same amount.

seems all dth prices are going up.
earlier most cheapest of all d2h, videocon d2h has its platinum HD service now priced @520pm. :(

if only local cable had provided better service.

I have used Retention plans of Airtel in the past - 3 years back for 6 months and again continued till 1 year by just calling them and saying I can't afford so pricey broadband, please disconnect it.

2 Mbps till 80gb @ 40% discount on their plan price. It was 1599rs pm at that time.
