Dual Boot Mac OS X 10.4.7 and Windows XP

Helsing

Novice
Hi,
I have an iso image file of the Mac OS X 10.4.7. I have extracted it and got three folders out of it. I have written it to a DVD. When I start the computer by inserting the DVD, the installation does not start and the computer is normally booting up in to Windows XP. I have set the boot device as DVD drive but something is going wrong. I am not able to find it. Can u help please...

You can't install Mac OS on a PC. (not in a normal way, and definitely not as dual boot)
It seems you are in love with Mac and love, as everyone will testify, is blind and knows no boundaries

dual boot is in fact possible.. please refer to the page below for more info..

For making it bootable you have to directly burn the iso to a dvd..Extracting the contents and then burning will not work!

Dont extract the folders...these are jus the bootloader folders..
Rather use nero and burn the image directly...
and u'l be able to boot...
BuT,
To boot off it, u'l need a patched iso/image...which one u have???or wats the source...???
If u can put up some details we might be able to help..

Guys,
I dont know much about Mac but I know that it is possible to dual boot Mac and XP, particularly Mac OS X 10.4.7 which I have downloaded. I dont know what is a patched Mac iso image. I got the image from a torrent website. I dont know whether it is patched or not. I have written the image to a DVD and tried to boot which dint work. I have extracted the files from the image and written to the DVD and it too dint work. However, I know that I have read some thing like ' JAS Installer' somewhere related to the torrent file I downloaded for this Mac.
But it seems (I think so) that the iso image I have got has not been patched as it dint boot automatically. Pls tell me how to patch the iso image I got with me.
Further for your information, I have also got some files relating to the Mac installation. But they do not have the necessary information as to why the installation does not start up or how to patch the immage I have got. I have a tutorial video about the dual boot of Mac and Windows XP. In that too, the Mac OS Install DVD automatically boots up which mine is not doing. I hope you guys can help me out. Pls identify where I am going wrong or what I am doing wrong.

^ it's a long shot to patch 10.4.7 yourself and get working, even if you find a way i am sure you'll need a working mac to patch.. Please post your system specs for us to be able to suggest a good patched DVD.

Also what do you prefer 10.4 or 10.5?

Hi H@rsh,
I have Pentium Core2Duo, Intel 945 GCNL Mother board, 1GB DDR2 RAM with 160 GB Seagate HDD. If you need any other information, let me know. Thanks for your help.

In order of personal preference;

1 - iATKOS

2 - Kalyway

The iATKOS is smallest around 2gig and imo the best. Am using it myself, everything except 'audio in' works flawlessly. (also online updates)

Both must be available on the Bay.

I am really sorry to say this. I am not able understand your technical language. I dont understand the following terms:

iATKOS - I have never came across.
Kalyway - I have never came across.
imo - I have never came across.
Bay - Is this any website (ebay)?

Can you please explain the same in layman terms? pls... I am awaiting your help..

I have searched the internet and found the following things. Also, please suggest me which one of the following would be best to download for my computer specifications:

iATKOS :

iATKOS v1 0i iso : Software > Mac - Mininova

iATKOS v1.0i (download torrent) - TPB

Kalyway :

KALYWAY LEOPARD 10.5.1 intel SSE2 and SSE3 (download torrent) - TPB

Also, please suggest me the necessary things which might be helpful for me. Thanks.

yes both the torrents would be fine. I'd suggest using easyBCD for Dual booting and read up the threads relating to these DVDs on Insanelymac.com and uphuck forums before installing. That's it.

All the best

'imo' bole to - 'in my opinion'

aur 'bay' - Download music, movies, games, software! The Pirate Bay - The worlds largest BitTorrent tracker :)
