  1. What is your budget?
    • 60k + WTB licensed Latest Mac Os X, FCP + Win 8
  2. What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)
  • Current Working on - Pinnacle Pro-One-RTDV + Hollywood Fx 4.6
  • Mother Board : Intel 945
  • GPU : Nvidia 7400 (heavy conflict with legacy driver of Pro-1-rtdv)
  • CPU : Intel C2D 2.6
  1. What is 'also' required ?
    • Heatsink / Cooling (No O.C. but continous work)
    • RAM - 16Gb (for Avid Media Composer)
  2. Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)
    • Kolhapur, Maharashtra (preferred)
    • else Mumbai / online
  3. Would you consider buying a second hand hardware from the TE market
    • No
  4. What is your intended use for this PC/hardware
    • NON Linear video Editing
    • Download rig
  5. Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them and the reason for your preference/dislike.
    • Not sure if NVDIA Quadro (recommended by Avid) is supported by Mac OS
  6. Softwares Use
  7. can go with Any 1080p support monitor (Samsung preferred as service center is in my city)
  8. Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
    • Windows 8
    • Mac OS X (Mountain lion)
Today I've seen a year one year old i5 desktop which runs Win 8 and Mac os x . It had Nvidia 550 ti and asus board with circle cabinet . Second thing is i need to buy a Mac OS x mountain lion , how to get Mac OS on DVD , i saw only download option in Store.

Please guide me . [DOUBLEPOST=1364729847][/DOUBLEPOST]*bump* Please anyone?

Well, the way I see it, buying the OS is not really going to work because its licensed to work on Macs only. Hackintosh does not count.

@terence f'des Your views.
err the underscore is missing :arghh: @terence_fdes

This is what I would recommend [you may have to increase your budget]
i5-3570 .... 13k [no need to go for the K version]
cpu cooler - CM Hyper Evo 212
Motherboard: Only Gigabyte - DO NOT CHOSE ANY OTHER BRAND as for a Hackintosh ONLY Gigabyte works flawlessly (see reasons given on above link at tonymacx86 )
GPU - GTX 660 (or if you can manage - GTX 670) - [no need to go for the Quadro as it is a lot more expensive]
RAM - 16GB
Cabinet - Corsair Carbide 400R or 500R & add 1/2 extra 120mm fans later on
Monitor - Dell U2312HM .... 15.5k - this is the cheapest & best monitor for fairly accurate color reproduction
SSD - 128GB x 2 OCZ Vertex 4 [one for the Mac & the other for windows] or 256GB x 2 ..... the latter is better as you can install all your apps + OS + assign space for caching purposes too.
hard disks - 2TB x 2 [one for the Mac & the other for windows]

Notes:
1] Avid Media Composer; premier Pro; FCP work best with dual monitors [lots of space to work with; easy to navigate between workspace and timelines]
2] Add a Tablet & pen later on for speed in working
3] Install & configure Mac OSX Mountain Lion first before you proceed with Windows - do not connect your additional (windows) hdds at this stage
4] Check compatibility of all your apps before you install Win 8 or else Win 7 is a better option
5] If you want realtime/fullscreen playback on a 2nd/3rd monitor - you need one of these cards Blackmagic Design - check the PCIe based cards (for capture/playback) these are the best & cheapest.
lastly - which version of FCP are you planning to use ?

Cheers
Terry

Terry, wouldn't the GTX 660 be overkill? Does it help with FCP and Avid? I know most of the Adobe suite does show gains with a compatible graphics card, not sure about FCP and Avid.

Maybe the Ti version would be an overkill. However, it's future proof also (pcie 3.0; disp port; better memory interface & cuda cores). The 570 was a much loved card, but it's hard to fine one these days.

The cheapest 660 is this one - 15.5k

The best bang for the buck is this one - with 4GB VRAM [this is excellent if one is dealing with full HD content & the prefered choice for many] - 32.5k

i came up with this:
Motherboard : Giagabyte Ga-z77-Ds3H
CPU : i7 3770 - 18.8kHDD : 2TB WD Black
SSD : is it worth it for OS ?
GPU: GTX 660 (Confused about GPU, most of users said quadro aint vfm , CS6,avid do recommend them .. was going with ti versions for core )
Ram : 16GB (8x2) - SUGGEST twin rams .. vengeance is getting out of my budget ,still should i push it ?
PSU : Corsair Builder Series cs600 v2 - 4.2 k
cpu cooler - CM Hyper Evo 212
My Cabinet budget is ~ 2.5K , i was thinking something like Ubercool of circle
DVD RW : donno
Monitor : @[URL='http://www.techenclave.com/community/members/terence_fdes.39628/']terence_fdes suggestion[/URL]

And was wondering whether making a Separate hackintosh laptop is more suitable ? as Upgrading current desktop configuration in future will affect the working of Mac OS .
Suggestions are welcomed .Thanks in advance for your time.
@vivek.krishnan , yeah i read about apple's strict licensing in EULA ,I was going with purchase as i am doubtful that they will scout one by one[DOUBLEPOST=1364833516][/DOUBLEPOST]

As per NVIDIA quadros are for Avid and CS6 , i dont want to invest more in GTX GPU's if its not of any use in rendering

They won't scout you out, but it does not make sense to blow 30$ when its explicitly mentioned in the ToS that's its not licensed to be used for other computers.

As for the quadro vs geforce, see whether the gains are justified.

My own attempts at a hackintosh some years back ended in failure. Then w7 came along and I ditched the idea.

Maybe I should try again :p

Monitor: Dell U2312HM - As I mentioned earlier, this is the cheapest VFM & superb quality monitor (15.5k)

GPU: Do not worry about what Avid or Adobe says - their recommendations are always for the Quadro or Tesla series. This in no way means that the GTX (or in some cases an AMD/ATI GPU will not work). There are countless disccussions on various video/cgi forums of how various folks are using these successfully. In case you still wish to go for a Quadro - then go for the K2000D model (the 2000 is very old technology & any model lower is not worth it).

Hackintoshing - needs patience & loads of it. Look again at tonymacx86 forums and see howww many have successfully done so. Do not ever think of a Laptop - it has all the limitations in the world. I am not commenting on Apples EULA :blackalien:

SSD: To have or not ?
If you can manage it, then it's mind blowing (Note: As technology has advanced - cpu (3770) + ram (1600mhz) + a 2012 release gpu ..... when all these are mounted to be run on 5400 or 7200 rpm drives result in under-performance of the above peripherals). So when used on a SSD, it results in blazing speeds & you would never want to look back again

DVD-RW: Any brand will do.
PSU : My choice would always be seasonic

Note: As you are staying at Kolhapur - you MUST BUDGET ALSO FOR A UPS - APC is the best.

Lastly, on a personal note (my task is pending too of hackintoshing my system). I will however try to see if I can install Avid MC 6+ on my system and report on it's feedback in a few days. Premiere Pro CS6 works fine on my system.
I use the Avid DS v11.0 at my workplace.

Cheers

Also try and set up 2 x 1Tb drives as a Raid 0 Array... Double check to see if it's supported in Hackintosh. Should provide you a significant boost in speed while working on HD+ files.

As for now SSD 120 is out if my budget. Though im seriously thinking of buying it later.
APC is best , will go with it only . and i am actually waiting for your Premiere Pro CS6 Rendering review on 660ti .

@vivek.krishnan GTX
it is.Torrent zindabaad then ?:jimlad:

@dafreaking Buying 2tb black only , already have a 1tb which i intend to use for MacOS . Never did raid, still a Noob :bag: ..guess can't i do it later

PSU : If its better than corsair can please , suggest me a Seasonic .RAM: Still in doubt whether i should stick to Corsair vengeance or any other.

Don't bother with dual-boot Hackintosh on this machine. There's no driver support for GTX 6xx series on OS X and while there are workarounds be rest assured they are unstable. You are guaranteed to break the OS everytime there's an update. Are you using FCP 7? In that case it is all meaningless because it is has an archaic backend designed for 2005, and can only access 2 CPU cores, 2 GB RAM and does not use the GPU at all. Unless you are using FCP X, which is improving but still useless for professional work, better get a separate, simpler machine for Hackintosh, or best still, a Mac mini, with no discrete graphics. And no, on FCP 7 it does not matter if you use Mac Mini or Mac Pro, it is all the same.

Be sure to manually enable GTX 660 Ti for Premiere Pro's MPE GPU acceleration.
