Hi,

I'm looking for a basic phone with following features.

- Branded (No Micromax fly etc)
- Cheap
- Have a long battery life.
- No need for music features or camera.
- Dual Sim Samsung preferably.

Thanks.

Samsung C3212 (Rs 3.5k)

- dual sim , gud enough battery life

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

just to let you know , samsung's dual sim phones dont provide simultaneous use of dual sim . To call/sms using the 2nd sim u have to use the hardware swap key (it will restart the phone) .

though u can receive calls and sms in both sim

Micromax and other cheap brands provide dual standby( simultaneous use of both the sim ) , i recommended these if ur daily use includes using both sim to make calls and sending SMS

Just went to mobile store. C3212 is discontinued and replaced by c5212.

Wow...really...but still I don't have trust in them...They are here since a very short period...
yepp

and they are into mobile phones since 2008.

Micromax is one of the leading Indian Telecom Companies with 23 domestic offices across the country and international offices in Hong Kong, USA, Dubai and now in Nepal. With a futuristic vision and an exhaustive R&D at its helm, Micromax has successfully generated innovative technologies that have revolutionised the telecom consumer space.

My friend bought Maxx mobile for 3600/- with lots of features, keypad + touchscreen with stylus, I was skeptical at that time about it's life time, but it still surviving just as like first day & now it's nearly 12 month old, he is happy with. I too hunting for backup mobile for cheap, if not get it here than will like to go with Micromax X330 :)

afaik samsung phones don't restart when you click the sim swap button(you might have used D880 which was launched long back). Currently using C5212 for 8 months & I can say samsung phones have best dual sim interface than any other brand in terms of usability.
In other brands you have two buttons for calling; one is for master other is for slave where as samsung provides easy switching between sims without extra buttons. just press the tiny button on the side & you are doing everything on 1st sim , pressing it again & you are on the 2nd sim. The battery life is good enough.

Also used spice & Fly in the past but they are cumbersome to use & have very bad user interface. Battery life was ok for them.

I agree with you :)

You are proud user, How a bout sound & cam quality?
I normally use Beat 450 for music so can't say much about SQ & don't expect much from 1.3mp cam either.
mainly bought it for dual sim usage which it does perfectly. If you want better display & other multimedia features go for C6112 , bought one for my father, working great for past few months.

3212 if you want a fully functional dual sim phone, the only limiting factor is display(screen size, resolution & colours used in display) as compared to C5212.Other things are more or less same.
If the above mentioned things are not important 3212 will be a better choice. The true upgrade from 3212 will be 6112 & not 5212.

Hey one question is coming to my mind. The sales guy from Moble store told me that in 3212 - when 'm on a call from sim-1 then the calls on sim2 will hear out of coverage area message, while on 5212 its improved and the sim-2 calling person will get a busy message rather than out of coverage message.. is thiis true?

Even i am using C5212 for quite a time too , and it does restarts when u press the hardware swap button ( everything closes , phone says "Rebooting" and it shows samsung startup screen after that )
i suppose thats what we call restarting lol :P

I believe you are talking about changing default sim through sim management which needs restart & I was talking about using primary & secondary sim for calling which doesn't need restart.
I hope I make myself clear this time.
