Dummy account on Facebook-Someone trying for threatening...

Talked to school authority y'day. Lodged complain to FB.
Next step to try ip tracing as suds & Prole73 suggestions. Though i feel not good, Prole73 suggestion better to initiate..
Trying to trace that bugger by other contacts in school also.
If all above not works, I think nothing left then go to FIR-cybercrime cell finally.
 
I would suggest to first complain to the police, and obtain FIR or something which should be given to Facebook, and they should give the IP address et all, and then the person should be traced.

The point of threatening is useless, as you will lose valuable info, if you have lodged a complaint with the cyber crime and IF they are quick to act, they would begin tracking the source, so if you continue to threaten he/she will simply delete the account may be using some proxy or anonymous services, and he/she might create one later! Its valuable to keep that account active and to register the logins and so it proves as a hard evidence if you drag it to court!

Or better yet.. ask some of your older nephews to handle.

You can keep some distance as the father, have some level of denial. You can say the nephews were just young blood. As your daughter told them also.

Is spypig works with FB message board?
 
There might be ways to get the IP address but without police intervention there is nothing much you can do that information, most you are going to find out is which city the IP is for and if by any chance its being redirected or using a gateway from another location then even this will be useless.

And cybercell is a joke here but as far as the situation is concerned, your best option. Facebook might give you IP address and registration email ID but am willing to bet the email ID would be newly created and IP address will be of some cybercafe. Facebook can help as they can tell which other accounts were accessed by that IP during that time frame but they wont. Maybe you can create a pishing page (Google it incase you dont know) and get the person's fb id and password, login yourself and check inbox and other places for pointers but this is very far fetched as someone who has gone to so much extent to do such malice would be extra cautious with any links or messages that come his/her way

Or may be he is a smartass and he wont get caught.
If he is using a Premuim VPN Service that does not keep any logs Or if he is using a free tor to save his Anonymity Online then it would be next to impossible to trace him down.Moreover some of these tor networks have over 300 relays.
 
In all probability it is just a teenager and possibly a classmate, I doubt they will go to such an extent as to using a premium VPN or connecting over a TOR network, but even with basic dodging techniques, its very difficult to track using an IP address, your best option is to get access to the account, how you manage to do it is a separate issue.
 
Searching is easy. If you know the person doing this, just ask someone to keep eye on nearby cyber cafes in the vicinity of where that person lives or near the school.
Another option is to find out when the person posts comments on fb. School kids only have so much free time after attending school. Catching him and threatening him would be easy if he is caught red handed.
If case is registered against him, ipc has provisions for up to 5 years in jail and 5 lacs fine. His whole career will be terminated due to his stupidity. Telling him this much will be enough to open his eyes.

Sorry not sure about fb. I don't have FB account so can't test .If you have fb account try sending email with tracking image to your fb account
Update: I had my friend test this method and it worked. He sent mail from gmail to fb mailing address.

ok, i try today.

I thoroughly checked his account. Some observations:
1. No further activity since 21/5/2014 after invitation sent to my daugher
2. Mutual Friend :- 2 male student (daughter class) + 1 female student (daugher class)
3. No time line found, however, his other friend timeline posting is there
4. Follower to this id :- 4 professionals outside school/location, 3 students in same school, 2 students in other school but same location
5. This id following to:- 2 professionals outside school/location. 1 student in other school but same location (looks this also fake id)

Meet School sir/principal. They start checking on their own way. One teacher advice to send him clear message thru' his mutual female friend (point-2) who is class friend of my daughter.

This bugger doing chit chat with one of male student (point-2 above) very closely. Two notable points he revealed : (1) Bugger dont like my daughter (2) bugger is in same class of my daghter which is only female class. I think, bugger trying to mislead that male student also.
 
i always assumed the cybercrime of indian police to be helpful ,have no experience though,
i feel sorry for you and hope you catch and give him a nice thrashing he deserves

How FB mailing address (of that fake id) can be obtained to send from my Gmail Id?

Facebook mailing address is in the about section of profile, there look for contact information .
