Storage Solutions Duplicating hdd and some more info needed....??

Well my present 250gb hdd have bad sectors...which ill b giving for replacement........also ill b getting a new 320gb.............i have another 120gb disc too

Now wht i was thinking is before giving this 250gb disc...i wanted to copy all the contents .......i meanmain drive contents to new hdd.........lik i dont need to reinstall all the softwares again(macromedia flash player,windows security updates,antivirus updates,favourites list etc......)...which means once i copy it to new disc..i remove old one i must able to boot frm new disc in same way as that of old........

Also one thing is while doin so ill b changing my proccy and mobo too...but both are nforce 4 type...but my present setup is intel and ill b mov to amd.......so ill b facing a big conflict or shd i have to do fresh instalation to b on safe site????.....

Also my sis is invading alot of my contents this days......so i was thinking to giv a seperate hdd to her...........but i m nowthinking also i create a seperate profile in windows so that i jus logoff and then she logon on new page(hence securing my yahoo messenger plus documents access frm same drive)........but here wht doubt i have is this........

1:::Can i create a profile via win xp for a sepearte drive totally.....and she cant have access on my main 320gb drive at all(since whenever she download something always my drives die......she accesses lotof unsafe sites and run streaming music frm there)..

2:::Also suppose i access a file via main word..and then i logoff then she signs frm anothe profile...will she get the quicklink for wht i visited through herprofile.....

Any good disk imaging software should help u mirror the contents.

I came in here earlier and saw all the questions and gave up.... :D

Anyway...... I think Acronis True Image is the BEST backuper .... I use it daily. Acronis can make an image or it can mirror a HDD. A backup program copies everything including the MBR and other hidden stuff. But if there is going to be a change in the Mother Board than it is best to reinstall - if you are lucky than this may not be required - just a restore of a backup image may work for you. After a restore if you run into a problem you can also try a "repair install" of XP - this too can work sometimes.

Make backup copies of all your DATA and BOOKMARKS and EMAILS with ADDRESS BOOK and MP3 and Movies and other such stuff.
 
okay i m jus concerned abt the s/w stuff.........updating windows xp and antivirus is way of headache...i have started backing up movies.....music all gone in bad sectors..sob sob.....
well mobo and proccy worked earlier but was having a slight problem in display stuff.........but i will try and make u guys know......

Btw any guide here how to create a up slipstream winxp sp2....i had tried once using google.......but it didnt work......somone knows a s/w which directly does that stuff???
 
Magnet have you done it ?

more simpler solution is there, and that too without reinstalling any of the softwares.

For Backing up do wt Eazy said, alternatively you could try driveimage to backup

As for the privacy thing, the best thing would be to install another fresh copy of xp on a different partition for your sis, you could select what ver of xp you want to log into at the boot screen. Also just have the administrator account on the orignal xp that you will be using & password protect it, delete any guest account. I guess that should solve it.
 
yup i was abt to ask that too.......ill have to giv my present drive too for replacement.........which are the s/w which completely erases the file..so no retrival can b done....of deleted file too..thks hacker for reminding..andxfactor..ill try wht u said.....
