I installed a LITE-ON 16X DVD ROM drive (Secondary Slave) in my father-in-law's PC, the config of which is ASUS mobo P3W, P-III 500MHz, Hynix 256MB SD RAM, 80GB Seagate Barracuda HDD, LG 17" CRT monitor, ASUS CD-Writer (Secondary Master), OS Win 98 & WinXP (Multibooting). DVD & DivX videos are displayed in jerky motion in WinXP, though VCD video plays okay. Is the onboard 4MB Video RAM too low for DVD playback ? Will DVD video play okay in Win98 or will I have to go for a P-III 700Mhz or up CPU ?

DVD video should be ok in windows 98.AS for the cpu speed, it depends on the software. The 4MB ram of onboard ram, again depends on what software you are using for playback.

Well my config is PIII, 1Ghz ,64 SD RAM on Win 98 and I am using DVD ROM on it since last 5 yrs.
