PC Peripherals DVD rom writer problem

I have a sony ddu(or dru cant remeber it) 810a ... i havent written dvds for a while.. bt just yesterday when i entered a blank dvd to backup my mp3 the damn thing is reading the dvd as a cd and nero keeps saying theres not enough space..... wats wrng with it?? dvd blank problem or writer ...

my stupid sony ddu 1662.. dsnt read any written dvds.. i mean i tried to open my old dvd with 3-4 game backups in it the cmp just hangs if i enter into it.. but on the writer it works fine... bt when i entered a movie dvd it was working perfeclty... same thing happens with any written game.data dvds.. even the stupid digit dvd works fine ... wats up with this :huh:
 
I had same problem with my sony 810 dru. Blank DVD were not getting recognized. Came across a link which said to reinstall NERO as the problem is with a ddl which helps in writting DVD's.. I did that n it worked for me.

For the second problem.. this can happen if ur writting ur DVD's as multi session disk. Sometimes Multi session disks are not read properly on some Writers/DVD players.
