Storage Solutions DVD Writer acting weird

hi guys

i have a toshiba laptop..one of the old satellites.
i used to write on dvd+r before....but today after updating the firmware from the toshiba website...( yes i downloaded the exact firmware for my laptop) ... my dvd rom doesnt seem to recognise any EMPTY dvd+r ....it jus keeps on blinking and blinking...BUT it reads the dvd+r's ive burnt before..this is really frustrating...i spent the last 5 hrs looking online...donno whats goin on

im attaching the nero infotool screenie for more info...
in it even though it says no capabilty to read dvd+r ...i can read them.
i found a utility to downgrade the firmware from windows but it only accepts bin files...and the firmwares i got are .hex...can anyone convert them for me...
please help!

well if its acting weird, have you considered sending it to acting school ?:rofl:

never update any bios /firmware unless it fixes something which is wrong..

say if firmware fixes issues with davd ram , u dont use dvd ram(i never used them myself) then don't update ur drive's firmware.

why-

1. any problem during flashing can render ur device unusable

2. changes are usually irriversible

yea..i think the firmware update screwed it up...now all the writer can write on is dvd-rs and cd-rs.... no dvd+r or dvd rw...which is used to before...****in toshiba site...
