Hello, first of all I don't know where should I post this problem actually..

I've LG DVD RW.. It's become very slow since 2-3 months... I mean It reads the DVD very slow, even write it at low speed.. No noise come from it..

One more,
While copying data from DVD to HDD, whole system slows down.. The sound shatters...

What is possible problem??

Possibility of the drive going into PIO mode? It happened to me sometime back & even burning would take ages. Does this happen with every disc or just some particular ones?
 
Whatever u ar saying regarding the problem are cent percent the problem of PIO mode...

Why system becomes slow when transferring data fron DVD to HDD coz ur processor is used fully during the transfer leading to a deadlock...
Why sound shatters, coz the processor is unable to do sound operations when reading from the DVD...

U might be looking at the wrong controller for checking the DMA, probably at the HDD one...
Best of all, uninstall all controllers i.e primary and secondary and reboot, the problem should be solved...:)
 
^ Ohh, I did uninstalled all the controllers... and restarted.. Let's see what happens now...

DVD Writes and Runs at very low speed, why??
 
Try changing the Data cable. It might be heating a lot(if IDE). Or ur SB chipset might be heating a lot.

If ur using the config in ur siggy with ur DvDRW things like these should not happen. Better do some hardware troubleshooting in this case.
 
^ I'm using the same rig.. i'll hunt for problem inside CPU today, if wire is faulty.. Then I'll have to change it...
