^^ Sorry to post here, but dude, go get a life. It's your money, i accept that you incur loss. But that doesn't mean seller also have to incur loss, if there is some other way, you can resolve the issue without any hassle.

He accepted for a fair deal and you still stand at your stance.

@dvdstoredelhi

You initiate the payment thru e-bay and meanwhile ask nfsnfs to refund that money.

@Mods

Sorry to post here, but it's in forum and that how it works, right?

Apollyon has sent me a PM to create a new thread. .I said you before ,I am saying again ,others don't give your free advices here .

Bug out guys enough, Now this matter is between nfsnfs and dvdstore.
Its better we dont post anything that can make things worse for both parties. Let them sort it out. Let us wait and watch how this unfolds

@gannu, after discussing with the staff it was decided to allow this thread cuz most of the dealers advertise here and offer to list the product on ebay.
and as sandy said only the parties involved in this matter should post here. Varkey too can get his issues solved out if he wishes

could not keep track of the threads so i'm not sure what all got edited in past 15hours.

i am concerned about the following as posted by varkey..

^ AFAIK he purchased the modem from eBay as new and the IMEI number of the device he received turned out to be the same as that of the one I had returned. He had also mentioned that it came with the latest firmware pre installed. (I had installed the latest firmware to see if it could solve the issue)

now the dealer has accepted that he sold them as new as he is providing 6months warranty. Should this condition be acceptable without seller clearing the same beforehand?

could freaky get it directly from varkey for cheaper?

because the same thing happened, just via the dealer..freaky paid more and varkey was in 400 loss.

I want to address this as a different issue unrelated to this thread. Please part this to another thread if appropriate to discuss it further.

@dvdstoredelhi - I paid Rs 3000 to get the modem, spent Rs 120 returning the defective modems to you twice and I got a refund of Rs 2720. This whole process took 30 days.

So my loss here is 3000 - 2720 + 120 = Rs 400.

Now my question is, why should I suffer a loss for a mistake or error at your end and I neither have the product which I paid for? Your responsibilty is to send a working device which you failed twice.

So I request you to do a full refund through eBay for Rs 3000 and reimburse me the Rs 120 (Rs 60 each by DTDC) which I had to bear for returning the modem to you twice.

I have already received the refund of Rs 2720 from you and I am ready to send it back first if you agree to the above.

Well varkey is generous enuff, to refund you in the first place . You should be glad .

But , I am not refunding you any amount .Sine you made a mistake of sending me a defective modem in the first place , you need to bear the expenses (6% ebay what ever) . .I am not even asking you the other things like 2 SIM corrupt charges , courier changes and the loss I took for BSNL recharge ( which you should have refunded ) ,frustration and anger .

So send me the difference amount .

ur a big fool!!

after having read all ur 4-5 thread s and so many posts , where u created ,

i have some serious advice to give u , just refund dvdstore amt of 1915/- sending him the transaction SS and also upload here the SS , and he will immediately initiate the refund from ebay which u will get in 3 working days ,

cant u get this simple thing in ur HEAD , one of u has to initiate and break this ice and i think it has to be u first ,

and if u think that after refunding dvdstore's amt of 1915/- , he will not refund u , then ur hugely mistaken my dear friend!!

sunish AKA dvdstore is a great seller

Agreed I got the same modem that Varkey sent back. But there is something that has not been mentioned before - not sure if Varkey tested this either. The modem worked fine when forced to work in 2G mode through MDMA. No restarts or disconnects at all. Now, is it possible that a network issue could have caused the device to malfunction ?

Had a chat with Sunish on this - He was absolutely sure of the fact that he had tested the same and it worked fine without issues. The only way for him to clear the issue is for some other member in the North or Mr. Bandwidthman (Supra :P) to test the modem and verify.

As for the issue with the OP, am not even sure if I'm allowed to comment. But I'd do what Varkey is ready to - if claiming the refund through eBay ensures full refund for the buyer and no loss for seller, why not do that ?

^ No I did not try it with a 2G sim, but on 3G the same issue happened to a different piece sent to onlyravi. I have a UMG181 as well and it works perfectly fine on BSNL 3G at the same location I checked the UMG1831. So now the same issue is known to happen at Chennai, Pune and Cochin.

Hence I don't think it is an issue with the network, as the same modem is known to work fine on BSNL 3G.

I hope its not spam from my side :P

@varkey --- I hope you tried with a normal 2G sim from any other operator other than BSNL. Also just to confirm again the replacement modem you got was a sealed piece one and did it not have IMEI right from the start with the stock firmware it came with ?

Also onlyravi has posted on the E122/UMG1831 sale thread that his modem(same as the one which was considered 100% defective and non-working) seems to be working fine:

http://www.techenclave.com/dealers-...hsdpa-3g-usb-modem-176587-27.html#post1704240

Also his latest speedtest using E122 I guess on the BSNL 3G thread

http://www.techenclave.com/broadband-forum/bsnl-slashes-3g-data-pricing-175166-86.html#post1704900

Also Gigacore has also confirmed that his modem is also working fine now

Also @ nfsnfs---- Did you use an external antenna with the modem ? I am asking because there are few antennas which have improper impedance and not proper 3G frequency match which can damage/fry the amplifier of the modem ! Just asking because I guess u had posted that you were using an antenna or something.

@Varkey > I am ready to initiate your Refund in FULL via Ebay after you Refund Rs 2720/- paid to you.

However regarding Shipping amount of Rs 60 + Rs 60 paid by you is borne by buyer since you bought via Ebay and we specified same in our listing !

This is how it works out for this product. We provide Replacement Warranty for 6 months and during this tenure if buyer faces and problem he returns same to us

for replacement and we bear return shipping charges. We also bear Shipping expense when we received a faulty piece and we forward same to Vendor and then he pays for returning replacement to us.

So 1 way is borne by buyer and the other by Seller and I feel it is fair and win win situation for both.

Lamer,
There is no way the antenna can damage the modem. The antenna is powered by the modem itself so frequency match doesn't come into question here. Unless the antenna was externally powered.
The only damage that can happen to the modem is the CRC9 connector can get damaged while removing, fixing the antenna.
All the 3G antennas work in the range of 820 -960MHz (2G, N2G) and 1710 to 2170MHz (3G) bands.

The antenna is powered by the modem itself so frequency match doesn't come into question here.

Frequency and impedance matching is a big factor for signal level (RSSI value)and everyone here will agree to that as its a basic electrical theory at work ! About the damage that wont happen due to the mismatch but say due to the accidental shorting of the terminals, improper braiding, spikes of USB current when using USB Hub or front USB ports of cabinets!

ALso another UMG1831 hanging issue of sg3707 resolved....seemed to be a windows 7 driver issue
