Let us not go down that road, maynot be sane to always expect relatively new members to be considerate to senior members as everybody has their own perspectives. Mods have too many perspectives to consider in such a situation is what i feel, pressure from either side would result in extreme actions i fear.

OP is misusing forum to resolve his issues over ebay by acting arrogant.

If nothing at all, then this thread will at least serve as a learning lesson to others about how not to behave on a public forum. :P

so far.

1. OP feels cheated over deal that happened over ebay.

2. OP contacts seller directly and agrees upon a compensation/refund.

3. OP creates thread on a public forum to Tell everybody, spams in other threads about the same. He acts like he really requires helps from forum.

4. OP does not care for the advice (thus 'acts as he requires help'). WHich makes me into concluding that all he wants to do is pressurize seller into covering for OP's losses, OR, at least make the seller suffer losses.

So I don't think that he really needs this forum to solve any issues, he clearly isn't interested in following advice, rather reacts arrogantly to them.

He is misusing forum for abusing and spamming the dealer, and apparently, members that try to help/advice.

i would request mods to shed some lights on my 1st post in this thread.

It is really a matter of concern.

The consequences are the reason why one demands for a new one in terms of 'usage' and not in terms of 'warranty' when someone purchases. This is really a big deal for most of us.

dvdstoresdelhi may have tested them and they may have worked fine for them, but why are they doing the same when the receiver is paying for a new one and still complaining with the same issue?
 
^^ That is the problem....I didn't even believe that someone working in a very big MNC like the OP can behave like this in a public forum and acting so stubborn and disregarding and post the same thing "Where is my refund" again and again!

As I said in the previous post, I did not try it with a 2G sim (Its supposed to work with 3G sims as well right? ) As I have mentioned earlier too, I have a UMG181 modem as well, and the same BSNL sim works perfectly and without any issues in that at the exact same location. So I doubt it being a network related issue, if it was, my UMG181 also would have showed similar or atleast some issue.

I just asked you check to verify if it was working on 2G sim even w/o IMEI....in fact with a blank IMEI its impossible to get registered with any n/w may be with UMG1831 it works differntly.

Also I just started the firmware updater and there too the IMEI number was missing and yes it had the stock firmware and I did not upgrade it as the IMEI was missing.

I thought you had posted in the E122 thread that you had actually upgraded the firmware!

You presume that the senior member got banned (or rather who I think you were talking about) because of the OP/OP's thread

@varkey: I'm not sure you are aware, but some modems do not work perfectly well at all places. In my personal experience, the E17xx series do not work with West Zone BSNL. Maybe the 1831 has got similar issues. I'm just suggesting a possibility that network could be an issue too. If there is someone else in your area who is using the 1831 without issues, then the problem is most likely in the modem. Anyways, please resolve the issue with Sunish (which I can see that you are doing) personally.

@nfsnfs: I have gone through all the posts involved, and there is no oversight on my part. All I am saying is you are assuming that Sunish had intentionally sent you a defective modem based on others' experiences. The other members who are/were affected will deal their issues with Sunish individually. This is not a class action suit. Do not make it one. Like I said earlier, it is your prerogative whether you want to accept the dealer's refund conditions or not. Take up the issue with paisapay resolution centre if you are not satisfied.

This issue has been prolonged unnecessarily. I am sure I am speaking for the majority when I say that you should agree to DVDstoredelhi's terms of refund. We have been very accommodating in this issue, and have been putting up with your tantrums. Let us know for one final time whether you will accept to what the dealer has proposed or not. If yes, we'll let this thread remain. Else we'll close it, and you can continue your issue on ebay.

@madnav: A separate thread for the issue please. Let us finish off the issue here.
 
@Supra - I already returned the modem to him a week back so can't check now. The IMEI issue was with the replacement (Modem-2) and it does register to the network but almost immediately gets reset although more frequently than the first modem (Modem-1). Modem-1 had an IMEI number.

I had upgraded the firmware of Modem-1 but it did NOT solve the issue and it was this Modem-1 which was sent to Freaky. I don't think Freaky mentioned anywhere that the modem he received didn't have an IMEI number.

Modem-2 had the stock firmware and I did not upgrade due to the IMEI number issue and was returned to dvdstoredelhi the next working day.

@logistopath - Yes but the same problem was reported by Freaky who is in Chennai and I tested the modem at Cochin. onlyravi also said he faced similar problem with the UMG1831 and he is based in Pune I believe. Further another member Dushie purchased the UMG1831 from a Cochin based seller, so I don't think the model itself has a problem.

Anyway I will contact dvdstoredelhi and try to resolve it at the earliest.

Lets not get into name calling or calling people noobs and make things worse. A community is only as good as its members and mods.
Enough time,effort and energy has gone into trying to get nfsnfs a refund now its up to him. A Solution is at hand but he has to accept it. Unlike other disputes where the seller is usually adament here we have a very cooperative seller but the buyer is being rather stupid. Forgive my choice of words nfsnfs but I dont know how else to put it.
We can only lead the donkey to the water we cant force the donkey to drink the water.

Nfsnfs if you want a refund, return the 19xx to dvdstore and then accept a full refund via ebay. There no other option for you. I repeat The only way to end this madness is for you to return the money to DVDstore and take a refund from Ebay. The refund is coming from DVDStore This doesnt mean a defeat for you. You are getting a full refund. Accept this as any sane person would do this.
There is no other way for you. Now the matter is in your hands.
There are more than half a dozen members here telling you to do the same thing why is it so hard for you to do this?? Forget that I asked this question. I know Im not going to get a sane rational answer from you. But please Im telling you for all thats good and human in this world read my post and say you will accept it.
This is the only win-win situation for both you and the dealer.

@all > Folks we have today Ordered 20 UMG 1831 FRESH Stock imported and arrived in India yesterday and are expecting delivery of same by tomorrow afternoon or latest on Monday. Anyone facing issue with UMG 1831 bought from us may PM us and we shall replace same with Fresh lot..

1.Refund the difference amount .

2.Accept that you conned me in sending a defective modem.I would forget the money .

If i don't hear from you , I would assume you choose the 2nd option and I would forget the money .I would think I donated it to some charity .

Arre dear... Don't bother with this issue please... U are wasting your time. ;)

Just remember that the Ban was not imposed by us. It was done by the Mods who deemed it fit.

Chill... He got what he deserved... That's the end of the story.

As for the Experienced vs Fresher/Noob issue, it is age old and its not gonna end ever!!! :P

Do not sing about Udit getting banned and that he 'deserved' it. When you do not know the background of things, it is better to keep quite and not post for the sake of participating in discussions. He has done immense for this community -- when you guys are marginally near to him then it is justified. Be considerate.
 
@nfsnfs: There is nothing to explain over PM. It is here in the open for everyone to see. You wanted a refund and you were offered one. Issue should have ended there, but you chose to prolong it.

Seeing that you have made up your mind, I'm closing this thread now.
