PC Peripherals DVI Cable Query

Ghosting is an artefact of analog transmission when the VGA cable exhibits signal reflection due to improper impedance matching.

Digital does not suffer from ghosting at all, so if you're getting ghosting it's usually due to a poor VGA cable. DVI will eliminate this as long as the rest of your system is fine.

Hmm, that means getting DVI-D is worth it. I'm not complaining about ghosting. This monitor has very minimal ghosting, it just a general query. However, was just curious if it would help to eliminate that 10% of ghosting or not :)

Which LCD do you have that supports 75Hz natively?

Or do you have a CRT with a DVI-D input?
I have Acer 19" Model no. X193w LCD monitor & it supports 60 & 75 Hz without any issues.

When you plug in the DVI cable, what refresh rate does the LCD run at?

Hint: LCDs have a native 'refresh rate' Technically, LCDs don't use the vertical refresh sync signal at all because there is no blanking required.

So, what is the 'default' refresh rate? 60, or 75? If yours is a 75Hz native, it will always look blurry at 60Hz over VGA no matter what. Over DVI the image will resize if you attempt to force a non-native refresh rate and resolution, try it out. The two interfaces behave very differently, and LCDs don't have the same refresh concept as monitors.

Default is 60 over DVI (is quite good) but need to increase it to 75 for VGA to get the similar quality as of over DVI

Dear friends,

Thank you very much. DVD-D (Dual Link) worked for me. Got it for Rs 250/-. Installed Windows 7, its "KRYSTAL clear":D, investment was worthwhile. :ohyeah:
