PC Peripherals DVI or VGA for Samsung S2233SW. Does it make a difference ?

I got a DVI I cable yesterday and it worked fine. He took it out from a new benQ G2200 packing. It has less number me pins than the D cable but still worked.
I got it for 250 bucks. Does the no of pins have any effect on quality or whatever DVI fits is good enough? I personally did see a difference after using the DVI cable. For some reason, calibrtion was easier and more responsive.
