The Playstation 3 news will go into overload this afternoon when Sony puts out their stall at their pre-E3 conference. Leading the field is former console rival Sega with Virtua Fighter 5, which will be released on the Playstation 3 exclusively in 2007.

The latest instalment in the series promises 17 fighters, including characters from the previous iterations along with two new characters named El Blaze and Eileen, who will have their own new fighting styles. Players will be able to customize their characters with different outfits and attach various bits of kit to them.

E3 2006 Preview

In just a few short days, the center of the video and PC game world will be firmly set in Los Angeles. The 2006 edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo is the single biggest event in this industry. Huge announcements are made, lots of games are shown (some for the first time) and massive parties are arrangements for people to be kicked out from if they try to get through without a ticket. This year’s E3 will likely be centered around the true introduction of Sony’s PlayStation 3 console and the first real reveal of Nintendo’s Wii (formerly Revolution) console. In addition Microsoft is expected to announce more games and services for the Xbox 360. PC game fans also will get some first info about a slew of upcoming titles as well.

Five Predictions for E3

Every year, the electronic gaming industry converges on E3. Given the vast array of press coverage, it's easy to forget that E3 really is for buyers. Publishers are trotting out their wares for consumption by the people who make decisions on what they'll want to sell this year.

Given the media frenzy, though, E3 is also an opportunity for publishers to strut their stuff for the ultimate buyers—people who'll actually be playing the games. If enough buzz is generated, then the professionals will order up vast quantities of product for the holiday season. Or so the thinking goes.

Vivendi Games confirms E3 lineup with WoW expansion, F.E.A.R. 360, Eragon

Fresh from its parent company's separation from Universal, Vivendi Games is taking advantage of its newly independent status to add one more title to this year's big E3 push, making it an official "triple threat:" It's gearing up to show off Eragon, based not only on the best-selling Inheritance Trilogy gothic adventure novels for young adults, but also on the upcoming cinematic version from 20th Century-Fox.

E3 2006: Sony's high-stakes, high-definition gamble on PlayStation 3

It had all the makings of a slick Hollywood production. First of all, it was set at Stage 15 of Sony Pictures Studios - the old MGM Studios, at the site of the first motion picture studio in America. It had some of its native industry's hottest acts, including Sony Computer Entertainment President Kaz Hirai, and Electronic Arts CEO Larry Probst. And, like quite a few Hollywood productions these days, it had an unproven star that left some in the audience wondering, is the performance we just saw truly worth the price of admission? Sony's PlayStation 3, with its 1920 x 1080 high resolution, its Dolby surround sound, its ace-in-the-hole 4D controller...and its $499 entry-level price tag - the complete package - finally made its long-awaited sneak preview. For the first time, many in the general technology media were able to actually play the thing.

Sega announces next Sonic game, exclusively for Wii

Sega has announced details of the next Sonic game, Wild Fire, which will be released exclusively for Nintendo's Wii console in 2007.

The latest instalment in the series, which has been running since 1991, is set in the themed world of the Arabian Nights. The story is that the final chapters of the story have gone missing, and Sonic must recreate them (probably in faster form than originally intended.

Nintendo Launches Wii at E3, Kind Of

Nintendo's E3 announcement just finished up, but was surprisingly short on details. Nintendo's Executive Vice President, Reginald Fils-Aime, opened the conference claiming that price and availability for the console will remain a secret for a little while longer, but left out the tidbit that Wii is "more fun for less money" and "you'll be playing Wii in the fourth quarter of 2006."

Nintendo stresses that the Wii is supposed to be the "every-man" console. The console is supposed to bring gaming to everyone, particularly people who have not played console games before.

Titans Slug It Out at E3

It’s hardware time at Electronic Entertainment Expo, the annual video-game extravaganza that begins Wednesday in Los Angeles. After years of talk and anticipation, this year’s E3 marks the first time playable demonstrations of the three next-generation consoles -- Sony’s PS3, Nintendo’s Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 -- will share a showroom floor.

There are billions at stake. Merrill Lynch predicts that the three companies will sell some 58 million machines by 2008, and the early impressions from the E3 audience -- most of whom double as both industry insiders and gaming geeks -- will help decide which company may win the next round of gaming wars.

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 get physical

Images of kids sitting around playing on games consoles instead of getting exercise could be a thing of the past, thanks to a controller that lets you fight as if you are in the game.

French company XKPAD, which has created the unusual BodyPad controller, claims that playing 15 minutes of video games using its device burns as much energy as 27 minutes of running.

The device has pads that fit onto players' elbows, knees, hands and waist and can translate physical moves into computer game actions.

Wii Classic Controller revealed

Nintendo held its pre-E3 Media Briefing earlier this evening, but one item they failed to mention was the Classic Controller for the Wii system, which was included as part of Nintendo's E3 2006 online press kit. 27 Playable Wii Games At E3

The Nintendo conference seemed to be the perfect opposite of Sony's conference yesterday. It was polished, the presenters were poised, and the demos conveyed exactly the message they were aiming for. Notable info includes 27 playable Wii titles on the E3 floor, a speaker in the Wii controller, a StarFox title for the DS, and a confirmation of motion sensor in the nunchuck attachment. There will be two versions of Twilight Princess (one for Wii, one for GC) and they'll both be out on Wii launch day. Launch is slated for Q4 of this year. The presenters kept the launch price and date under wraps as the tone of the event was inspiration, not information. The number of playable games available this week confirms their commitment to a launch date this year, and the hilarious tennis game played onstage by the Nintendo honchos and the contest winner made their 'playing = believing' slogan really hit home. More flash than substance, but a solid presentation overall

Nintendo is coming for Sony and Microsoft gamers with a vengeance

One of the clear unspoken messages to emerge from the Nintendo press conference earlier today was that they are no longer to be considered the "Third way" in console gaming. The Wii has a family feel to it, but the game lineup speaks differently: This will be a console for hardcore, gun toting, mania loving gamers as well as Mario fans.

As well as rather fun looking "classic" Nintendo titles we're expecting a lineup of shooters, such as Red Steel which is not your fathers PG-13 type of game, to official sports titles like EA's Madden NFL 07. From Tony Hawks to Final Fantasy, of which there will be an exclusive Wii iteration, the software portfolio for Nintendo's upcoming console looks to be as wide and varied as those of its two main competitors.

Nintendo Wii hitting store shelves in Q4

Nintendo today announced at its keynote at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) that it will be launching its next-generation gaming consoled "Wii" in the fourth quarter of this year.

Pricing has not been announced, but the company mentioned that it will be offering "more fun for less" money than the competition, which sells its consoles for $299/$399 (Microsoft Xbox 360) and $499/$599 (Sony Playstation 3).

Nintendo shows off more controller action with Red Steel from Ubisoft

One of the several games which Nintendo showed off at its press conference earlier was Red Steel from Ubisoft, a first person game which contains both shooting and sword fighting. Yes, yes that is just showing off the controller, but as long as it's fun we won't complain.

While it does not look as graphically sophisticated as the offerings from Sony and Microsoft are promising to be later in the year, the game is an authentic shooter, with deformable scenery and real time physics.

PS3 controller looks a little wimpy against Nintendo's Wii

While the 4D controller Sony rolled out late yesterday afternoon looked like it might generate a bit of interest, the fact that only one game - Incognito's Warhawk - was even partway prepared to make use of it, could score Nintendo at least a takedown this morning. In its morning press conference at the Kodak Theater, the company promised a total of 27 games available for testing on the E3 show floor, all of which utilize its breakthrough one- or two-part motion sensor controller set.

http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/05/09/e32006_ps3_controller_wimpy_against_wii/

Nintendo has big little plans for the DS

With all the attention currently being lavished on the Wii and its motion sensitive controller it might be easy to overlook the handheld market. Nintendo however took time out at their press conference to remind us all of just how successful their DS handheld has been, particularly on comparison to Sony's PlayStation Portable, and to lay out plans for DS Lite.

George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications came on stage to read out some interesting numbers to us: The Nintendo DS has sold 16 million units in the 18 months it has been on the market, and the runaway success that has been Nintendogs has sold over 6 million copies since it was launched. Nintendo also claims 1.3 million discreet WiFi users on the DS, comprising of what they figure to be 40 million gameplay sessions racked up in only 6 months.

http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/05/09/nintendo_ds_plans/

Super Mario Galaxy coming to a Wii near you

No Nintendo gaming platform would be the same without a Super Mario game, and the Wii is no exception. Though only a working title at the moment, and with no announced release date as yet (so we can presume it's not going to be a launch title), Super Mario Galaxy was on show at the Nintendo press conference in Hollywood this morning.

Naturally enough the game will be taking advantage of the Wii controller, and as this iteration of the series is set in space (don't ask me how he got there) Nintendo is promising to take full advantage of the motion controller to have Mario flying around in all directions in the zero gravity.

http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/05/09/super_mario_galaxy/

Microsoft banks on Xbox 360 installed base, cross-platform gaming

This morning, Microsoft played to its key strengths: an estimated five million Xbox 360 systems shipped to date (although that estimate may be on the high side), and a handful of established titles, including Gears of War and Halo 3. After today, it's absolutely clear which markets the big three console manufacturers are targeting: Sony is looking for the electronics aficionado who wants bragging rights to the biggest numbers and the best experience; Nintendo is targeting the casual gamer and the family member who misses having fun with electronics; and Microsoft is looking to clean up with whoever is left.

E3 Keynote impressions: Nintendo outshines Sony with Wii presentation

It wasn't the Academy Awards but Nintendo was hardly short on star power and excitement at its media briefing for E3 2006. E3 06: Grand Theft Auto IV coming to 360, PS3 in 2007

LOS ANGELES--In one of the most shocking announcements at E3, Microsoft revealed that it quite literally stole away some of Sony's audience. One of the PlayStation's most notoriously popular franchises, the Grand Theft Auto series, is confirmed to be coming to the Xbox 360. Previous editions of GTA were released exclusively on the PlayStation 2 in October, and were later ported to the Xbox. Now we know that Grand Theft Auto 4 will be hitting the Xbox 360 on "day one," alongside the PlayStation 3 version of the game.

At today's Microsoft pre-E3 conference, Peter Moore pulled back his right shirt sleeve and revealed the familiar Halo 2 logo. Duping the audience into thinking that a new Halo was about to be announced, the Englishman then pulled back his left shirt sleeve, which revealed a tattoo that showed a Grand Theft Auto IV logo.

Grand Theft Auto IV will be available on October 16, 2007, in North America, and October 19 in Europe.

Moore did announce that Microsoft and Rockstar have signed an exclusive agreement to provide episodic content via Xbox Live, though he did not specifically limit the content to GTAIV.

Following the announcement during the Microsoft press conference, Rockstar Games issued a press release confirming that GTAIV would be hitting both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 simultaneously in the fall of 2007. The brief announcement specifically confirms that Scotland-based Rockstar North, creators of the previous GTA titles, will be developing the game.

A few more details for Wii

Over the years we have seen Nintendo become increasingly innovative with their gaming platforms. First the Game Boy DS had some interesting new features and the Wii will take that to a new level. It is pretty well known now that Nintendo is going in a different direction then Microsoft and Sony. Nintendo is stressing that this is an "every-man", it will also feature much different pricetag then PS3 and Xbox 360. Wii Also features an interesting new controller that is based highly on motion sensitivity. The controller features six degrees of freedom over the main controller and has an "external dongle", which has been named the "nunchuk" by nintendo for the other hand. Another neat feature is a small speaker built into the Wii Console pad, along with a built in rumble feature. Nintendo is looking to expand the market, which is great, but lets hope they don't leave the gamers out.

Everyone's still filing into Stage 15 on the Sony backlot. Everyone's expectant and the mood is generally upbeat. The house lights are on full, so it'll still be a few minutes before anything official starts.

In the background, Sony's been playing some hardcore gangsta rap: we note this because Nintendo would never, ever play that music. The rap song (which we failed to identify) was followed by Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean." The music is eclectic, we're hoping the games line up is similarly so.

New Resident Evil title announced for Wii!! -

May 10th, 2006

Press Release

3-1-3, Uchihiranomachi, Chuo-ku

Osaka, 540-0037, Japan

Capcom Co., Ltd.

Kenzo Tsujimoto, President and CEO

(Code No. 9697 Tokyo - Osaka Stock Exchange)

Resident Evil, the Survival Horror King, is coming to

Nintendo’s Wii™!

Capcom Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that the development of a new game in the Resident Evil franchise is underway for Nintendo’s next-generation Wii system.

The Resident Evil series, which began in 1996, has helped to propel the survival horror genre into the mainstream. The series has shipped over 30 million units (as of March 31st, 2006) and continues to entertain fans worldwide.

The intense story and cutting-edge graphics have combined to create a deep gaming world that has even been expanded into non-gaming media such as the Hollywood movie series of Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Apocalypse, each earning over 100 million dollars at the box-office. The most recent game in the series, Resident Evil 4, has been honored with the Award of Excellence at the 9th CESA Game Awards and the Game of the Year Award at the 1st Famitsu Awards, further demonstrating the worldwide recognition of the game’s top-notch quality.

The next-generation console Wii is garnering much attention with its groundbreaking new controller. The new Resident Evil game for the console will combine the series’ intense gaming experience and atmosphere with the revolutionary control system of the Wii.

As always, Capcom will continue to strive to produce great new game titles and expand its appeal to a broader audience across the globe.

Its not Re5 though. Wii's gfx capabilities is too weak to play that. So most probably its a side-story RE with an entirely new gameplay with the Wiimote.

E3 2006: Hands on with Nintendo's Wii and new Dell Designs

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known as E3, held in the famous Los Angeles Convention Center (next door to the Staples Center, home to the L.A. Lakers and L.A. Clippers) here in downtown Los Angeles. Booth babes back despite restrictions

Sex sells. It's a truism in the advertising and marketing industries, and seldom is it more in evidence than at certain trade shows. In particular, booth babes have been a regular presence at E3 and other consumer electronics trade shows in previous years.

After last year's show, the ESA was concerned that the exhibitors had gone a bit overboard with the scantily clad women. In addition, the video game industry is rather sensitive about criticism related to sex, in no small part due to the infamous Hot Coffee episode with GTA: San Andreas. As a result, they issued new guidelines requiring them to wear more clothes.

Intel claims 40% performance gain with new Core 2 Extreme processor

Up until this year, the enthusiast gamer has been, by definition, a PC user - or, in deference to Apple, a "computer user." This year, thanks in large part to Sony, that's changing. From a marketing perspective, the enthusiast is the person who is more willing to spend money and adopt early. The money an early adopter might end up investing in a high-end, PlayStation 3-based gaming console is essentially what he might spend on at least a high-end computer, if not necessarily the top of the line.

For that matter, the PlayStation 3 is essentially a computer, albeit without a keyboard and mouse. But it does, after all, run Linux, as do a growing number of Intel-based PCs. So the comparison is inevitable: Of the two platforms - the PC and the PS3 - which is the better investment from purely a gaming perspective? Intel, of course, has a tremendously biased opinion on this subject. But in the light of more substantive competition than it has ever faced before, will Intel's perennial arguments continue to hold up? Or will subtle changes to those arguments shed some light as to where Intel wants to go with its push into gaming?

How Sony Dropped the Ball During E3 2006

Gamers aren't overly impressed with what Sony has to offer during this year's installment of E3

Out of the three next-generation consoles on display on the show floor during E3 2006, the Nintendo Wii seems to be grabbing all of the attention. Slightly behind the Nintendo Wii, Microsoft is doing a good job of promoting what it will have to offer in the Xbox 360 market for the next year or so. The obvious question is what happened to Sony? An editorial published on Wired points out how E3 was there for Sony's picking, but Sony simply lost out. The announcement of the console's delay, the cost of the console, and the lack of motion-sensing functionality in the PlayStation 3 controller are several reasons why the PlayStation 3's reception during E3 2006 has not been stellar.

Microsoft + Nintendo = Gaming Without Sony

Microsoft starts whispering softly into Nintendo's ear

Reuters reports Microsoft is getting cozy with Nintendo in an effort to take on Sony when it comes to the next generation console wars. As has been pointed out by many of our readers in previous articles concerning the pricing structure of the PlayStation 3, Microsoft contends that you can buy an XBOX 360 and a Wii and be better off than if you plunked down that cash on a sole PS3 gaming system.

Microsoft sides with Nintendo in fight vs Sony

Microsoft Corp. sided with rival Nintendo Co. Ltd. on Wednesday in the fight to unseat video game leader Sony Corp., saying many consumers will choose to buy both of their machines for the price of one PlayStation 3.

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Warlords Looks to Please Civ Fans

DailyTech sat down with Firaxis to view a brief demo of Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Warlords during E3 2006

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Warlords, the first expansion for the insanely popular Sid Meier's Civilization IV is being developed by Firaxis and will be released in July 2006, according to Firaxis. Firaxis listened to some of the things that players wanted changed in future expansions and patches of the original Civ IV, and the company then obliged by adding many new features and a good looking scenario list. From what was shown to DailyTech during E3, the new scenario list was compiled from the mostly desired war-related scenarios. The new scenarios that can be played: Genghis Khan Chinese Unification, Peloponnesian Wars, Alexander's Conquests, Rise of Rome, Vikings, Omens and Barbarian Horde.

E3 2006 Impressions

So guru's, today at the E3 we most certainly saw some pretty impressive stuff. The last time I visited the E3 was in 2003 and I gotta tell you ... it's way busier now in 2006. There where massive amounts of people at the exhibit. Always the booths are ridiculously expensive, the most impressive one had to be from EA in which a big 360 degrees large panorama screen was showing the latest stuff. I also had an exclusive opportunity to have look at some new Unreal Tournament 2007 footage (yet was not allowed to take photo's) but hey, very extraordinary.

Sony brings PC gaming tech to its new console

PC gaming and console gaming have coexisted for longer than most people realize. In the early days, computer game developers like Roberta and Ken Williams started their business from home by putting Apple ][ floppies in Ziploc bags, while companies like Atari raked in millions of dollars selling game cartridges for the VCS console to the mass market. With the crash of the console video game business in 1983, computer gaming had a chance to mature into a viable industry of its own, although some analysts continue to predict its inevitable death with every new console launch.

Nintendo steals Sony's, Microsoft's thunder at E3

On the second day of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), it becomes clear that Nintendo's upcoming Wii console grabs the attention of show attendees at a much faster pace that the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360.

While Nintendo has created an impressive booth with 27 games running on even more stations, it is nearly impossible for most attendees to get a glimpse at the titles. A few minutes after the show opened, Nintendo estimated the wait to reach a game station at about four hours. By 10 am, the wait had increased to six hours. By our estimates, there were at least 1000 people in line waiting, especially for a first look at Ubisoft's Red Steel first person shooter.

Sony's take on lack of HDMI on the $500 PS3

There has been a huge outcry from the gaming community about the lack of HDMI on the $499 PS3. Sony has responded by saying that the reason for the lack of HDMI support is that many HDTVs do not have HDMI on it and there is not a big difference in the picture quality.

Nintendo president Iwata explains the Wii's strange name.

A good Q & A with Nintendo's Satoru Iwata that gives insight into the Nintendo game plan for this generation of consoles. He definitely shoots some of the rumors down.

First look: F.E.A.R, Saint's Row and Crackdown for Xbox 360

With the benefit of launching its next generation console last year, Microsoft is using E3 to promote the latest crop of games for Xbox 360. The software giant paraded out a number of titles this week at E3, some better than others, that looked to take full of Xbox 360's hardware. Here's a look at a few notable titles.

The 10 most over-used words and phrases from E3 2006

Drumroll, please. As E3 2006 wraps up today after a long and eventful week, the editors of TG Daily, TwitchGuru and Toms Hardware decided it was time to to list the most overused words and phrases from the show this year.

Preview: Heavenly Sword for PS3

These days, fancy graphics will only get you so far at E3, and in the wider gaming world for that matter. As I walked through the Sony Playstation 3 area of the show floor, I noticed a lot of really pretty graphics, but when really pretty graphics are the norm they can start to look a little less spectacular.

Will Wright: USD 600 PS3, Wii, Nintendo DS Lite

Quotes: "I am working on a book right now." "Six hundred bucks; that is a lot of money. I'm rooting for Nintendo." "I am playing with my DS a lot. I am playing Brain Age and Sudoku."

Next Call of Duty not for the PC

Despite not actually featuring it on the show floor, the World War II FPS franchise Call of Duty has been creating some waves at E3, with the news that the next iteration in the series will not be appearing on the PC; and the quiet news that it will be getting a Playstation Portable release.

The news did not surface on the show floor, but in a keynote to Activision investors and an official product release schedule. First up CEO Bobby Kotick told a group of investors that the next Call of Duty will not be featuring on the PC. "[It is] not a PC product, it's a console product and it's all next-gen," he told investors.

Crysis makes a breathtaking first impression

The gaming press is a jaded lot, and E3 can be a treacherous place if you're a developer without a standout product. After a day and a half of hearing that every game I see is the best and the features are unique, all the praise starts to sound like white noise; an annoying hiss in the back of my mind. So it was with much skepticism that I approached Crytek's demo of Crysis. I heard it was amazing, but it's a shooter, and I've been hearing "amazing" for 10 hours now. The reality of it is that as soon as the game loaded I was blown away.

Preview: Indiana Jones and The Next Crusade

LucasArts has announced at E3 that their first internally developed title for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 will be Indiana Jones 2007 (set in 1939, we're assured it's a working title.)

Adventure games based on the franchise have been some of a sleeper hit previously, so we have high hopes for Jones' next outing. The game is being written with "direction from George Lucas", which either means he walked past the design offices looking for a coffee one morning and somebody thought it'd look good in a press release, or this game is going to be terrible. I mean... err... ohh damn, well maybe he'll be better at doing videogames than he is at doing films these days.

MotoGP coming to Playstation Portable

Sony has announced that Namco will be bringing the MotoGP series to the Playstation Portable in an iteration designed from the ground up for the handheld console.

The company has been rather light on specifics, however, only telling us how wonderful it will be to race against Valentino Rossi and Sete Gibernau (or, at the very least, some sort of AI counterpart. We're not sure if they'll be evil AI counterparts or not, though.)

Lego Star Wars II: The Good Trilogy

One of the games being previewed at E3 for what I suppose we can now call the "Alzheimer's Generation" of consoles is Lego Star Wars II.

The original was the best Star Wars title released around the time of Episode III, and the tongue in cheek humour matched well with the captivating gameplay. Now the sequel is back, and it will focus on the original trilogy.

E3 2006 First Impressions: Battlefield: 2142 from EA for Windows PCs

What game designers have learned over the past decade of perfecting the network gaming model is that games you play in groups don't have to be terribly complex to be enjoyable. The first networked games were online add-ons to programs with extensively detailed mission scenarios. In the 22nd century, as depicted in Electronic Arts' Battlefield: 2142 (or 2142 Battlefield, depending upon how you read the title), there's no desolation or vast wasteland, but instead a very simplified office complex which serves as a missile silo. The battle, which can take place between as many as 32 contestants, 16 per side, is more of a skirmish between heavily suited super commandos, with no more strategic depth than a raid on a campus dorm.

Intel demos Core 2 Extreme at E3

Obviously, the big news at E3 this week was the consoles. Specifically, it was the first chance we got to see the Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii in action. Once those two systems join the Xbox 360 on the market, all three of the next-generation consoles will be powered by IBM silicon, leaving Intel shut out of the console scene for the first time in years.

Intel is unwilling to cede the gaming stage to IBM and the three consoles however, and was present at E3 talking up its CPU lineup and how PCs are still the cream of the crop when it comes to gaming. In particular, the company showed off its upcoming Core 2 Extreme processor (note: can we kill off the Extreme moniker already? The shark has long since been jumped.) to make the case that the PC is still the preeminent platform for gaming.

The Core 2 Extreme is the gaming-centric CPU that Intel intends to launch later this year alongside the Core 2 Duo (formerly the Merom and Conroe). Intel is claiming that the Core 2 Extreme is 40 percent faster for gaming, which is promising for those gamers who want to live on the bleeding edge.

Sony president: PS3 "probably too cheap"

We're beginning to wonder if Sony hasn't lost all of its senses when it comes to public relations. The company knows that the pricing on the forthcoming PlayStation 3 console has been met with some degree of anger, hostility, and/or disbelief, but to combat that by calling the console "probably too cheap" is unexpected, to say the least. Or is it?

Sony Computer Entertainment's Ken Kutaragi says that when one considers the price of the PS3, one must think of a fine dinner, not a cafeteria meal, according to comments translated from Japanese media site, IT Media.

E3 2006: Picks and Pans

From retro video games to scantily-clad booth babes, here's what we loved and hated at this year's show.

It's a tough job, we know. But someone's gotta do it. We trekked to Los Angeles this week for the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the annual showcase for the latest and greatest in gaming. We braved long lines and played plenty of video games to find out what's hot--and what's not. Here's our take on this year's show.

Wii to have a dedicated PPU?

Is the final Wii secret a Physics Processing Unit? An interview (done yesterday) with a Konami developer mentions that the Wii has "built in physics simulation". Also, an interview done today with a Nintendo PR rep. confirms that there are more hardware secrets are yet to come. Could this be it?
