C2D E6750 @ 2.66Ghz stock
Intel DG33FB mobo
Win 7 -64bit

Ok so I just noticed that my idle proc speed is 1600Mhz and 2133Mhz on full load.

In the BIOS it shows:
FSB= 333Mhz
CPU= 2.66Ghz
RAM Clock= 400Mhz, 6-6-6-18
all default/stock

but when windows loads in everest or cpu-z etc its showing
FSB= 267Mhz ????
RAM Clock= 320Mhz ???
CPU= 1600Mhz (267x6) Idle, 2133Mhz (267x8) Load

WTF?

I did purchase new ram sticks (kingston 2x1GB DDR2-800) about a month back but im pretty sure they were running at 400/800Mhz when I loaded win 7.
Im sure the CPU too was running normally at 2.66Ghz unless i didnt notice till today :O

Multipliers are locked at 6x and 8x for this cpu

enabled/disabled EIST...still no change. no C1E on my mobo

I know the ram is 800mhz and not 1066 or 1333 but should this affect the cpu/fsb clock? :S i mean everything worked fine on win xp

Am i missing something here?

Re: E6750 at 1.6Ghz wtf?

but why would it randomly choose to underclock itself. I mean the actual speeds of my cpu with speedstep enabled is suppose to be 333x6 = 1998Mhz(Idle) and 333x8 = 2667Mhz(Load)
Im losing about 500Mhz under load (dnt care fr idle clock)
oh btw i just had an A/C installed yesterday and it draws power from the same point as my comp. Coincidence? or is my pc not getting enough power :S

Re: E6750 at 1.6Ghz wtf?

^^

Power should not be an issue. Stress it using LinX, or LinPack, and see the CPU-Z ratings. They should show you at stock max.

Re: E6750 at 1.6Ghz wtf?

Like asingh mentioned, get a CPU stressing application like Prime95 or orthos and check CPU-Z while the benchmark is running.

Re: E6750 at 1.6Ghz wtf?

^^

RealTEMP in conjunction with Prime95 (2x worker threads) should be nice too.

Re: E6750 at 1.6Ghz wtf?

I've already stressed it using everest's built in stress test, also used prime95
you see the multiplier is locked at 6 and 8 so the max speed im getting now is 267x8=2133Mhz

Re: E6750 at 1.6Ghz wtf?

cause he has intel original board are total crapping and give me some issue :|

btw tried update latest bios should improve stable for fix core speed ;)

so that help u to fix the Intel board ;)

Re: E6750 at 1.6Ghz wtf?

Is there any setting, 'Cool and Quite'. Turn that off too. Also are the latest chipset drivers installed for your board. From the motherboard website..?

Errr. Cool and Quite :S Isn't that AMD proccies??

Re: E6750 at 1.6Ghz wtf?

same problem i am facing .. i got AMD phenom 2 X@ 555be which is 3.2GHz

and i am getting less speed. I dont have AMD cool and quite option in my bios.

then what should i do to get full speed ???

Dont know about intel boards, but my Gigabyte board had a similar issue. It UNDERCLOCKED...but wouldnt OVERCLOCK...no matter what I tried, updating bios, ever OC setting step by step.

Point: Board had to be replaced. Everythingw as fine after that. RMA/get it replaced. Good luck.

You have not input multiplier manually? If there is an option make it AUTO.

disabling EIST should actually run it to ts fullest, provided that you have not entered multiplier manually.

RAM should not be an issue.

Meanwhile, I tested this on my setup,

E8200 (6-8 multiplier)

dg31pr (:bleh:)

EIST enabled

Win7 prof. 64 bit

On idle it was running on 6 multiplier, but when I made both the processors spin at 100% (wrote a sample app for that). it changed it to 8.

So its not a cpuid or windows7 bug, now I wonder how come it was working for you in XP and not in windows 7, you may want to confirm it again in XP and send it to RMA otherwise.

good luck

so the mobos which dont have AMD cool and Quite option they need to be replaced ?? RMA ?? and what if that option wont be there in replaced/new mobo also ???

I shall open up my "dabba" and start fidling around...too lazy to RMA

this sux >_< ....fifa 2010 also lags now bc

Well the OPs board would not have CnC, for sure. For the OP, there has to be some setting which need to be turned off, which is preventing the board to run at full speed. If you can take some pictures of the BIOS, and post them here, we can try further.
