Hey Guys I am new around here and would like to say a hi to all you audio enthusiasts out there.. I have been following the threads here and i have seen some great audio discussions

I am slowly inching towards experiencing audio bliss. I got a pl 30 off a recommendation and it sounded great to my ears.. After a while i got a brainwavz M1 and saw some notable improvement too. Was happy with that purchase too. Now i would like to go for something better in the 3k range... I have narrowed down a Vsonic G6 , Meelectronics CC51p and a Klipsch S4.

I am a bit confused and need help to decide which one is the best of the lot.. I am open to recommendations.

It's not about recommendation bro, you should really listen to them n decide, as tastes differ across the spectrum

VSonic GR06 will not be available at 3k. There is a VSonic GR02 BE in sale thread, you might want to look at it.
@sandeepsachin is selling those because he wants to upgrade to GR06.

Humm is the S4 available in 3K anyways also have a look at those UE's from logitech, they were a really good company that were bought by Logitech in 2008 and even now they make some excellent IEM's.

Ok thanks guys.. Let me clarify my requirements.. I am looking for some IEM that will sound good to listen to rock.. I listen to lot of Opeth and those lines.. will GR06 be ideal .. ? I want that bass to go low but yet stay away from the mids and treble ? There should be some sort of space b/w the bass mids and hi's. something fun and make me punch walls when i listen to an intense passage :-) Yeah and i need a good seal :-) I want that Ah haa moment.. :yahoo:

IME, it's really difficult to capture the essence of Opeth's sound with mid-fi IEMs. GR06 would sound really nice with the softer passages, especially guitars. Bass is not intrusive, so that is more in line with what you want. But, I feel that heavier passages, Ackerfeldt's growls need something like an EX-1000 with UHA-6S. At 4K or so though, I would not complain about GR06.

Klipsch S4 would have a wider sound stage, but too much bass and sibilant treble makes it a no-no. CC51 is a better choice than S4, but I think it falls a little short of GR06. I do not remember enough about CC51's sound to compare though.

If you can stretch a bit (and can buy from Japan / Head-fi used), FXD80 is something you can look at. It's cooler, faster, better at imaging, has that treble spike which brings 'clarity' - though I am not a big fan of it's mid range.

@esanthosh Thank you.. I like Opeth's softer passages more than his growls... I think i will settle down for a GR06.. Can you suggest me any other IEM that are good in the price range ?

esanthosh I am open to buying it only locally and a new one :) I am bit paranoid of customs and stuff.. Yes my budget is around 4k... even 5k is ok if there is a good SE improvement.

I read some of your previous posts and you regard the Sony ex 1000 as excellent and also read somewhere the ex 600 come close to it.. I did a Google search and did not find any sellers in India..

Thanks for answering my questions..

EX-600, even if bought used, would hit close to the $100 mark, if not more. But, you will need to go through the hassle of International shipping and customs.

Give me a day to think about the options. With local support and warranty, I can only think of VSonic GR06, Brainwavz M3 off the top of my head. They won't be perfect choices as GR06 lacks that ultimate clarity in mid range (but better than M3 in bass quantity and quite possibly in treble) and M3 is a bit colored and thick sounding (but may be a bit more forward in the mid range than GR06 without a trace of sibilance that is present in all VSonics). Only if we had access to plenty more brands :(
