Hi all !

I am new to ebay and I don't have seller's account. My friend wants to sell his mobile over ebay. He will be using my bank account. Here are my queries.

- Linking my account to Paisapay is free, right ?

- After selling items can I remove my bank details ?

- Now Valentine's offer is there, so the gift item will be directly shipped to buyer right ? I just have to send the mobile. [well, just small thought came to me, that ebay might send gift item to me, then I have to pack both items. I think my thought is stupid]

-The mobile will be sold around 10.5K, so how much in total ebay will charge me [their fee, tax etc] ? And when I will be receiving the money ?

-Also, is there anything more that I should know ?

Thank you all :)

If all my queries gets solved, then I might list the item today.

1. Yes. It is free.

2. Not sure.

3. Yes.. your chain of thought was stupid.. :P j/k. You need to send just the mobile.

4. Check this page for details: Fees: Charges For Selling Your Items on eBay

5. Paisapay will clear money for remittance only after the buyer confirms receiving the item. Paisapay remittance cycles are on every Mondays and Thursdays. So depending on when the buyer confirms receipt, you will get the payment either the following Monday or THursday.

Thank you very much for so quick reply :) Reading the link you gave.

Is there anything more I should know ?

Nothing much except the routine precautions. Make the listing proper and list out any faults/problems/anything else that the buyer needs to know. Communicate with the buyer promptly. Pack the item and send it through a reliable courier, even if it means pricing it a little higher. Price it at least 10001 so that the buyer can take advantage of the Valentine offer. If you are trying to sell it through an auction, make sure you keep an appropriate reserve price.

- After selling items can I remove my bank details ?
Just wait for payment to be confirmed and transfered to your bank a/c. It takes a few days. Ebay will send you a confirmation message both to your email id and ebay inbox after it is done. Then you can remove your bank details.

@logistopath - Thank you again, for those tips :)

@jojo - thanks dude :)

I have read everything in the link you gave. I am not gonna open shop nor use special formatting. So for mobiles, ebay will be charge me 5%. But if I list it in Technology Categories (Except Other Technology Categories), wouldn't I charged just 1% ??? See here :

ebayw.jpg

and also at the end of the page, they have mentioned about service tax of 10%. What about it ?

ebay2vs.jpg

edit : found about this from here http://pages.ebay.in/help/account/tax-ov.html. So If I sell mobile at 10,001. So I will charged 5%. That is 500. And service tax and cess, 10% i.e. 50. Now 3% of this is Cess, around 2rs.

So in total - 500+50+2 ?

Am I right ?

TIA :)

Thanks for opening this thread , i too had a same quarries , but 2 more :

- What if the, after listing the item , someone buys it , then i send the item , he receives the item and on ebay says he has not received the item ? then what how will i get the money, then.

Sorry if its hard to explain , in simple terms: what if the buyer is a fraud, and after he receives the item , does not acknowledge the reception.

- If the item does not sell in the period do they take the reserve fee. cause it says " Reserve Fees (fully refunded if item sells)"

SOrry for hijacking the thread but am sure the OP also will be interested in the answers.

then u have to have the POD , and prove it to the ebay @$$H0l#% that u have deliverd it and it has been received by the buyer and he is lying , ok.. one thing

secondly, if the buyer forgets to mark the item as received , then after a certain time period (6-7 days after the delivery deadline) , the item is automatically treated as received by the system and ur payment will be remitted to u in the next remittance cycle either monday or tuesday ,

for new sellers there is no listing fee i guess for certain no of transactions 10-20 i tihnk , after that 4even if the item doesnot sell , u will be charged listing fee of 1re per item no matter what

there used to be a paisapay charges of about 4.5%(6% for emi options). I havent sold anything recently, but AFAIK it will be over and above the selling fee

Okk... I am not aware of what Fees you are talking about. Nor do I know what fees logistopath has talked about. :S

But I recently sold an iPod on ebay for 3.5k Shipped and I was only charged the PaisaPay Facility Charges for the deal. No separate ebay fees.

So, while remitting the amount to my bank account, ebay only deducted 4% + 10% Service Tax and 3% Cess (Edu: 2% + Sec & High Edu: 1%) thereon.

In totality, I got 3,500 - 158.20 = 3,341.80/- credited to my bank account.

PaisaPay Facility Charges: http://pages.ebay.in/help/policies/paisapay-policy-fees.html

Now I dunno if this was a mistake on ebay's part or what but this is what happened to me.

^ in 4%(paisapay fees) that 10% ST and 3% Cess is already included and ebay will charges extra 1-1.5% ebay fees after a month and will message you the same.....

No it isn't... It says 'thereon' which clearly indicates that the 10% & 3% is calculated on the 4%.

If u check my maths in the above post, I have been charged ~ 4.52% and not just 4%.

Also, ebay has not messaged me for any extra fees even though it is almost 2 months since I finished that deal on ebay.

:)

punker , now tell me what if the my 10000 item does not sell. in the given time period.

i will be charged 101 ? ( 100 , reserve fee and 1 listing fee)
