From 1st September 2010, the final value fee on technology products will go up from 1% to 5% which surely means the buyers will have to pay more as the sellers would have to increase prices.

ebay fee changes

This is surely going to hit their sales. Once the competitive pricing is gone, nobody's gonna buy from ebay unless there are 10-20% off coupons. They're gonna learn the hard way :)

Maybe after the fee hike, we just might get 250 off coupons instead of the 100 coupons, and 20 % max 1000 coupons instead of the max 500 ones.

Ebay will surely come up with some great marketing strategy for sure..

yea, all thanks to techenclave

One thing is sure... sales will nosedive since it will not be competitive enough to get stuff from eBay even after coupons.... there is already paisapay fee involved & with this the total may reach to 9-10% easily.... :(

By hiking fees, They just trying to recover the losses they have made due to crazy discounts and coupons.

So Blame it on TE members for excessive discounted shopping:p

ebay was never competitive wrt brick and mortar shops. it was just for the coupons that people brought from there or cause we did not find the product in our area. i will most probably buy from our dealers from now on. haven't got any coupons in 7-8 months. will delete my account there. already items were being sold at mrp, and were around 500- 1000 bucks more than what we get outside. with this price rise, buying anything there is foolish now onwards.

You are 100% right, even now I found (with coupon code) that ebay prices for most mobile phones & other gadgets are just Rs.150-300 cheaper than local sellers offers to me.

^ there are 10 million people regd on ebay as per ebay website , how does Te account to half of that , eve if we take that each of TE member has made 100 ebay ids each :p

lol guys ebay are tremendous amount of people that are not from te . also the fee is only on certain unbranded things. stuff like HDD , processors , gpu still remain the same.

sites like tradus will take a long time to compete with ebay, maybe ebay will buy them or will close down, whichever earlier, yes sharks like amazon can be of better competition for ebay, or maybe they have an understanding with each other, who knows, this is india, everything is possible ??

Ebay is made up of a very diverse variety of people (from all over the world). Basically anyone can join with no experience necessary, each person is a different caliber than the next, the only problem is that You can't judge quality of product / service by looking at the seller & his location, we only have to judge them by reading their feedback and look at the DSR scores for Item Descriptions, Communications, Shipping Time, & Shipping Charges & only this gives you an idea of what to expect.

As far is amazon is concerned it is totally different & not as flexible as ebay.
