Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey expects Activision to “essentially†close developer Infinity Ward after the completion of the second Modern Warfare 2 map pack later this year.

Writing in an investor note focused on the publisher's upcoming first quarter financial report, he said that development of Modern Warfare 3 will likely be spread across a number of studios that are new to the record breaking franchise.

Well, there you have it. If anyone ever needs an example for the phrase "Killing the Duck that lays a golden egg", this is it!

Bobby Kotick should get fired for this!!

Shit this's such a pathetic approach by Activison. They'll lose one of their core developers because they did not end up paying the bonuses their employees were promised of. :(

The lawsuit filed against Activision was much needed. Let's see how it progresses.

Who'll take up the development of MW3 then? Treyarch?

Looks like the MW franchise is going down, Treyarch or whoever takes it on will never match the class of MW1.

I would like to see what Respanw Ent. comes up with, hopefully EA doesn't screw them up as well.

Infinity Ward was established by the people who worked on Medal of Honor and later left to realize their own WWII game. So maybe IW employees will establish a new company IW2 now (although they will not be able to work on their COD series)

Well i'll be very honest here, i extremely enjoyed playing both the SP campaign of MW1 and MW2, they were epic to say the least. Gaming will sufffer here aif IW don't make no more games, which i guess would not happen ^^

I wish EA buy them, atleast EA release Shooters games in India, unlike Acti homo gays who didn't release MW2 here >.< (In its cheapest its stiil 51$ :/)

I would say thay have to close Infinityward because there is noone left to work there. Most of the employees resigned a few weeks ago who were working on MW3 on royalty and bonuses issue and they also have a lawsuit against Activision. So, Activision has no choice left to close it as nothing is left.

Activision Discloses High-Ranking Exec. Resignation Same Day As Infinity Ward Lawsuit - G4tv.com

Its not about the studio - its about the creative guys behind the game- if they can come together form a studio-make a pilot concept and approach publisher (on the contrary publisher will come forward) to finance their project,,i will like to see somw Freedom Fighters kind of game from these guys /

NOTE: misinterpreted the quoted lines of Dr.Ashish - very true

^They have already formed a studio. Its called 'Respawn'. Also, I remember reading somewhere that EA has already signed them up.

The main two heads at IW (prior to this drama) Jason West and Vince Zampella used to work for EA on the Medal of Honor series. They left EA and formed IW due to excess creative interference by EA!! :)

So, its been a full circle for them.

yeah i read that already - good move,,I want to see more independent studios then the publisher owned studios-which will initially support to start a franchise and later milk it till the eternity

Mean while a new call of duty is confirmed. Its titled "Call of duty: Vietnam" (Working title).

Treyarch is developing the game. Trailer/Screens expected today or tomorrow.

At least Activision didn't close the COD franchise yet.

how come they will abandon COD franchise - thats one of the major milking cow for them -expecting to see more COD series in future..as for the vietnam, anyone remember vietcong series - one of most challenging FPS war game for me so far

Well IW is fighting to retain the MW title as well. Now since COD was initially developed by IW .. you never know what more law suit can IW file against Activision :P

More over the best of COD titles were done by IW, And in so much of this chaos, They might just decide to shelve the game for indefinite amount of time till things starts to look better.

Respawn signed on the EA Partners programme. I hope they create a kickass game which shoves it up Activision's @##

Btw anyone notice that now EA has 3 of the most influential shooter franchises under its umbrella? Crysis, Battlefield and now whatever the guys at Respawn come up with.
