English TV series discussion

yeah subjective obviously.
I watched it again after rewatching Andor S1 and then new season, and again felt the same.
Its ok movie for me, much worse than something like Andor and much better than force awakens which did not even feel like sw and was just copy pasting shit in a horrible way.

So it was a relief to watch R1 back when i first watched it but i see it more as a one time watch for me. It just seems so similar to so many other action movies with things jumping around, but in a reasonably well done star wars setting. I prefer original 3, clone wars and even the 2000 prequels to R1/solo movie ( maybe 1 and esp 2 were okayish with lots of issues but 1 had maul and one of the best fights in the series )
Clone wars expanded well on the 3 movies.

I also like jar jar binks :), dont care if everyone hates him.
Maybe I need to give the OG movies a rewatch, it's been a long time. Clone Wars was great, getting to see more of Maul was a highlight and CW also turned me into a big fan of Ahsoka. Too bad I had very high expectations for the Ahsoka series, looking forward to S2 though.
R1 coming after the disappointing TFA and being way way better than rest of the Skywalker saga that followed just makes it standout, until Andor came along. Andor 1, 2 and R1 make for a nice, even independent, trilogy.

No need for that. You can watch Andor Season 1 & 2 and then if you want you can watch Rogue One.
You will need to excuse the first episodes of both seasons but then sh*t gets real.
Arguably the best depiction of the moral ambiguity in a rebellion and the personal sacrifices needed for something like that to succeed.

All of these are prequels to the original 6 movies by George Lucas but keep in mind you might be underwhelmed by the Lucas movies once you see Andor.
And less said about other Disney movies/tv shows in SW universe the better.
I mean if you want you can. Even though Andor is the most separated part of the whole SW franchise there are still some references and mentions in Andor S1 (I haven't watched S2 yet) which makes it worth it to watch the previous installments before jumping into it. One example that I clearly remember is third sister, having played Star wars fallen order her being shown and mentioned instantly peaked my interest. Another one was a robot similar to BD in the series. I'd say while not being important if you have watched previous series/movies and played the games you will appreciate the franchise much more.

Yes you are right about the first few episodes being slow, though they had their moments as well. I like how uniquely different and deep Andor is compared to other installments in the franchise, whether you take a movie or another series.

Every franchise got one goofy doofus in it. My feeling towards the character is neutral as I know he's meant to be portrayed like that.

MobLand S01, Episode 9 - All I have to say after the way the episode ended is: "WTF will happen now"!

Also, this bit towards the end of the episode where...

Conrad and Maeve get arrested and start singing that Irish folk ballad...
[\spoiler]

... gave me the creeps!

This reminds me, if they ever got around to make a Kotor based series or movie, Revan and HK-47 will instantly become super popular. I need a live action HK-47 in my life.

One of my favorite shows would be Mindhunter on Netflix.
It's a shame they dropped the idea of pursuing the series. A movie based on the same genre was the Zodiac.

Is there any series which is similar to Mindhunter?

Watched the k-drama named “mother”, very beautifully made, its actually based on a japanese series. Recommend our community members to watch
Watch When Life Gives You Tangerines
Last of Us Season 2 - boring in one word, as they kept focus on lesbian stuff rather than the actual gameplay from the game. It was boring after they killed Joe anyways also we will get season 3 which should be boring too.

This might be the best show this year for me.
It does go into melodrama side sometimes but nevertheless it's made beautifully.

If you have watched many kdrama before then this will be easy to like but don't make it your first kdrama.
Yes its good and the rating justifies but they cried way too much which felt off sometimes anyways there are few more that I enjoyed The Trauma Code Heroes on Call, The K2, The First Responders S01 (need to watch season 2)
We can discuss further in Kdrama thread so lets not derail this thread https://techenclave.com/threads/korean-drama-series-discuss.208363/

Can someone suggest a crime or thriller Mini Series (or a series with only one season). like "Mare of Easttown". Loved that series

True Detective season 1. Every season is a different story and season 1 is the GOAT. Other seasons are not good.

Fargo - Seasons 1 to 3. Once again, every season is a different story.

Black Bird - A miniseries

I actually liked the last one as well with the supernatural element at the research station and the two female leads however, yes nothing will come close to the first season. probably ever in this series at least
