His original drive worked for 6 months and then it conked off, but he was using a generic psu with the hdd so i thought that could be a major concern so i made him change the psu. He bought a new coolermaster 600 watt psu which is essentially a seventeam oem psu with 3 sata connectors. But even after buying that and connecting the RMA'd seagate 500 gigger it seems that the issue is not gone, so maybe all the 500 gb drives of seagate are the culprits maybe ? Or maybe there is some bad batch of drives that is being sent by seagate for the RMA'd drives. All this is kinda weird, coz i have owned like some 6-8 seagate drives and never faced such issues *touchwood*. But most of my drives were pata and not sata. My friend has toh got so frustrated he says he aint gonna ever buy seagate again
