how true!!
i had cloned my windows hdd to this drive just two days back and the hdd just crashed today morning while i was browsing TE! :@
gave a BSOD all of a sudden. restarted after chkdisk.

eventviewer shows these errors -

WTH it seems that you're not the only guy facing these issues one of my friend who has a 500 GB Seagate Sata HDD also has the same problem his brand new RMA'd hdd died in just 1 month lol. His original drive worked for 6 months and then it conked off, but he was using a generic psu with the hdd so i thought that could be a major concern so i made him change the psu. He bought a new coolermaster 600 watt psu which is essentially a seventeam oem psu with 3 sata connectors. But even after buying that and connecting the RMA'd seagate 500 gigger it seems that the issue is not gone, so maybe all the 500 gb drives of seagate are the culprits maybe ? Or maybe there is some bad batch of drives that is being sent by seagate for the RMA'd drives. All this is kinda weird, coz i have owned like some 6-8 seagate drives and never faced such issues *touchwood*. But most of my drives were pata and not sata. My friend has toh got so frustrated he says he aint gonna ever buy seagate again :rofl:

even that idea came to my mind of psu being bad. but fact is my wd 500gb drive is connected too and its as perfect as could be :touchwood!

u could be right abt it being a bad batch of hdd's. my first drive was of 9Qxxxxxx batch and this current drive is of the same 9Qxxxxxx series. both made in taiwan.
if this dies then i'll sell the rma'd drive and settle with WD which runs much much cooler and quieter. :)
 
Personally,ive noticed inferior performance from Seagate HDDs ever since Seagate took over Maxtor.They are noisier and are failing more frequently than the others.

What was the result of the chkdsk ?

..i'm bit surprised this has happened given you ran seatools too (long test).

As for seagate's i've never had any probs with them even with avg temp being 48-51 (degrees C) for several years.

cant make out from this since no bad sectors were found.
 
I still can't say 100% whether this is a HD problem or not.

Needs more time, see how the next few days/weeks go.
