When the v-street team heard that ESWC was not going to take place in India this year, we wanted to take the initiative and bring ESWC back to India. So, we coordinated with the ESWC organizers in France and worked out the documentations to get ESWC back on track in India. Our sincerest efforts to finalize the event on time failed. Therefore, we regretfully announce that ESWC will not happen in India this year due to reasons beyond our control.

" The reason for ESWC to fall off this year !

1) We found out that no organisation was willing to take up ESWC 2008 and the moment we realised it, we took the initiative to organise ESWC India 2008. But 3 to 4 months was not enough to convince the sponsors in India to sponsor around 25 lakhs

2) No other organisation was ready to take responsibility. Zapak, Reliance etc all had a talk but refused..

3) The basic cost of event license n travel =25 lacs we tried our best but no company ready to sponsor because of the title logo sponsor problems (you should know how advertising funda works in India) The logo integration played the first spoil sport for us.

4) 2 times ESWC organisers; Indiatimes also backed out. And we got the project way too late.

5) We were ready with the License fee and we were in the process of payment hoping that we would be able to convince the sponsors in India.

6) Finally the major thing was that we weren’t informed about tax that should be handled by the National Partners and thus we were entitled to pay a tax of 42% to the total licence fee we make in this year’s ESWC

We took this only after no other company took it. Zapak, RWW and many other companies wanted license but they didn’t take it for some particular reason, and the same reason why Indiatimes backed out."

They shouldnt have posted like this in public to tell the truth. Sponsors come and go- I have seen it when Indian pro league was around. Putting it out on the website makes it worse.
 
This is BS >> unless they are complete idiots, everyone knows that if you are going an event, then there is a large portion that would get charged as Tax.... It isnt like VS is being run by some 18 yr olds....

Sponsors in 4 months is not hard to get, considring that most of the companies have a quarterly budget for sponsorship...

Arranging 25 Lakhs for license is an issue i agree >>

But namecalling other companies such as Zapak or RWW is just not something that they should have done...
 
I was skeptical when I heard VS was taking this on, but was glad at least it was happening... too bad it had to end this way. It must totally suck to practice for the tourney and then get let down like this. Complete BS, because people and companies can actually get away with this in India.
 
Honestly its a big damage for v-street. If an event is not put up as planned, then its the event management company which is in the line of fire.

i totally agree with Karan. I was really pissed off when I saw Indiatimes Zapak and RWW there.
