ACT Fibernet silently cuts FUP from 3300GB to 1500GB

Act is one of the costliest ISPs in India. Still they aren't satisfied.
Not even costlier but maintains double standards also.
They are showing 60 MBPS plan for Rs.706 on ACT APP while there isn't any 60 MBPS plans at all on their site when click on my Town Name and there are even cheaper plans starting from Rs.450 giving 50 MBPS speed and jumps to 70 MBPS plan for the next speed upgrade.
Also on ACT APP the FUP limit is shown as 1500 GB while on their site it shows for even basic plan FUP is unlimited to all plans.
What do you call this? Other than misleading consumers by maintaining double standards.

Did u get some special plan by any means?
For example, my neighbor is a policeman, and they are given special plans, which are not available to common people and not listed on the website.

No, They continued my ACT Hyderabad account in 2019 to Nellore which was used since 2008 til 2016 where it had this 60 MBPS plan for Rs.706 with FUP limit of 1500 GB.

ACT used to be called as Beam Broadband in Hyderabad.

But in 2016 I disconnected ACT and took Excitel for 2 years in Hyderabad and then disconnected Excitel because had to change to new location and there I took BSNL FTTH in 2019 til 2023. Now here in TN I am still using BSNL FTTH.

BSNL FTTH restricts Steam, Epic, Ubisoft Game & Xbox PC Launchers where these does not even open but show cannot open error. So I started using Google Public DNS or Cloudfare DNS.

Now I am able to download at 170 MBPS speed constant even though my plan speed is 150 MBPS only.
It's same for BSNL here in TN or TS. Need to change DNS otherwise no gaming at all.

When I was using ACT or Excitel all game launchers used to work great and I was able to download also but only at given plan speeds.

Anywhere which BB I used to use I turn on the VPN for downloading torrents otherwise torrent websites doesn't open at all but at the cost of slow speeds like I can download at 100 MBPS speeds only while the plan speeds allow 150 MBPS.

That means, I think they are waiting for you to move to a different plan. Atleast that's what it seems. Bcz u r getting better deal presently among all other plans.

Last time I used bsnl in hyd, all launchers worked fine for me.

Btw, what vpn is giving such massive speeds? Last time I used adguard vpn and it was shit for downloading, only good for browsing.

Pro tip when downloading torrents:

Use the VPN to add the torrent file to your torrent client of choice. Start the download. Once started, turn off the VPN. You will get full speed.

The only explanation I can think of for that trick is that a VPN might help you discover peers faster. Usually, when you have closed ports, you are dependent on peers with open ports in the pool. If there are no open peers, your torrent will never start downloading. If you can wait a minute for all peers to be discovered, using a VPN is unnecessary. This's why when you start downloading the speed is slow and gradually improves until it saturates.

When I want to see the Steam community, workshop or profile it won't work means you click those tabs they won't show. I reinstalled my steam, Epic Ubisoft & Xbox many times but won't work.

I used to get 10 mbps speed in Xbox download but when I change some windows settings in updates menu then download speed changes to full speeds. No ups and downs here like in steam downloads.

My steam download graph goes up and down and sometimes stops for 20 seconds also then continues at break neck speed then does the whole dancing again even now.

I like EA launcher because we can start playing even during downloading but after certain point is reached. Here also no ups and downs while downloading.

I stopped using Ubisoft launcher long back but now I always buy from steam all ubisoft games even though they are cheap on Epic. If steam gives constant downloads without dancing around then it is the perfect launcher and then comes Xbox launcher and EA. I never downloaded anything in Epic until now.

UltraSurf VPN is what I use as extension on both Edge & Chrome. I saw one of my colleague ( IIM, Dhanbad Alumni) using it in his laptop in Singrauli Coal mines camps in 2015 since then I am using this. If I don't use VPN in PC it gives SSL error while in torrents.

I use Turbo VPN for my phone. If I don't use VPN it gives SSL error while in torrents.

It's so sickening that we have so many launchers and that too some of them are resource heavy.
The best games (old) I wanted to play require EA and Ubisoft launchers, hence I am not even willing to install them for this sole purpose.

All these launchers (except EA which I didn't try), worked fine for me when I was using bsnl too. This was probably around 2021-2023.
Even bufferbloat score was better in bsnl than jio, which has been terrible for pings. Now act fiber is giving very good score. Just that it is not ftth.

Only launcher which was terrible is, the xbox launcher. The game downloading sometimes gets stuck and we don't know what it is doing. Then later it finishes.
And then few things run in background always for some reason.

I am thinking to see if we could get good deals on surfshark or nord, so that they can be tested to an extent.

Have u tried changing dns with bsnl?

I already changed DNS in my PC & Phone but not in router settings. The bsnl guy who visits houses isn't lifting the phone as he is the only guy for the whole township. I want to ask him about the username & password of the router because he took my router to his office while installing a new connection and later connected it in my home. He might have upgraded the router and that's why I am unable to connect to router settings here in Anupuram Township.
While I was in Hyderabad using the same BSNL router with almost similar plan there wasn't any problem to connect to router settings.
But it says username & password are wrong.

Got act connection today. They sent some form/application to my email and it says 3300gb per month.
They don't have fiber to home here.

By the way any router in a budget that can help block specific websites and mobile apps (like snapchat, instagram) ?
Presently have Archer C6.
I have the same act yearly plan as yours and have this D-Link DIR-X5460 router which can do the job for you too.

Can you try searching for common credentials in broadband forum (ibf)? Generally users share a lot of info related to internet and routers there.

I just found out the username & password set by our bsnl service man. Now where to change the DNS settings for my NETLINK GPON ONT 2GE+1POTS+ac WIFI (HG323DAC) router. Any guide because I don't know anything about networking and if anything goes wrong then I have to go to bsnl office and bring that lazy service man to home.
