Laptops Ethernet and Webcam not working in HP Dv6000 "Is it a drivers or Hardware problem"

Hello Friends,

In my HP Dv6000, there are two problems going on:

1) Ethernet - Wireless network is working but LAN is not showing in my network places.

2) Webcam - Laptop is showing error "Creation of the video preview failed. Please check the device connection and make sure that the device is not being used by another application or use"

Please suggest me in rectifying the above problem.

I am using Windows XP SP2. It is a used secondhand laptop. Net adaptor is installed with a yellow icon error over it. Please check the attached pic for more details. I have tried to install HP`s recommended drivers from thier website of Model No. Dv6000 but unable to rectify problem. Please analyze and assist accordingly.

First test updated drivers from the manufactures site, see if they work. Later this could be due to hardware failure.

@virus2win ~ Yes, I have downloaded latest drivers from their website and none of them rectifies the problem. Are you sure it can be a hardware failure?

Try installing the UVC driver from the MS website . Check if LAN is enabled in the BIOS

Try some linux live CD's.

@hA1Der ~ There is no LAN option in BIOS and as suggested by you, I have tried installing UVC drivers from MS website but mission not accomplished. Here is the HP pavilion webcam error:

Creation of the video preview failed.

Please check the device connection and make sure that the device is not being used by another application or user

@rareravi ~ I am new to Linux. Please suggest me Linux live CD`s so that i can work on it.

Just install Driver Genius pro

It will find all drivers and install it for you

@Teja92 ~ Tried installing Driver Genius Pro 10 but mission still unsuccessful. Any other suggestions are also welcomed.

contact hp support on chat ,also post a screenshot of device manager
