Congrats dude ,:hap2: good score.

Concentrate on 12th which is more crucial as it going to shape your future .Most of the times people tend to neglect their 12th after getting good scores in

10th .Happened with a friend of mine .:(

^^ yea and I got 101%:ohyeah: :bleh:

Let this dude enjoy his result man!!!:P ppl who are past the 10th really need to keep shut if their percentage is more:bleh:

If you are so interested in knowing how much others got in the 10th and 12th, feel free anytime to go open a new thread:D

After reading the thread ,I thought it was customary to mention the % and marks since many had mentioned it .:P :S
Sorry will edit the post.

Congrate now just sit on a big comfy armchair with ruffles lays in 1 hand, french fries in the other and a coke resting on one of the arms of the chair :)

I'm considering giving it (my social paper) for rechecking but some people are scaring me saying that it is possible you may actually lose marks after rechecking. What do you say about that?

Thats always a risk if the evaluator is in a bad mood or pissed of for some reason. Its most likely to happen when the guy already has a good score 80+ and he still gets it reevaluated. Its actually happened to two of my class mates at school in the 10th. (Its not ICSE though) and to many people during our B.Tech course. I would say that you let it go. But its your choice in the end. :)

Also I would say that you got a good score. Most of the guys who get 85~90+ in every subject normally get such those scores my mugging up for the exams and even though they do consistently well in every exam, they tend to be not so good in their higher studies or in their jobs after their academic life is over. I have myself seem may people like that with my own eyes. Whats more important than the exams is obtaining knowledge and perusing your interests. Also I would suggest not to go into a stream blindly because every one else is going for it or because careers in that field are high paying. Without a level of interest in a stream, one will not be able to excel in it. I know a person who took the math stream, joined engineering and after completing two years, felt that he was not in the right place and went back to the biology stream and completed MBBS.

Thats what I'm thinking to. I guess its best to let it go because 79 is a pretty decent score. :)

Don't tell me about those muggers! I don't mug ANYTHING up, I always try to understand the subject and write stuff to my understanding. I NEVER write any answers in my book when the teacher dictates them, I always make my own answers and write them during the exams. Of course my teachers would be pretty angry that I wouldn't write down their answers, but I've never mugged at all in my life.

One thing to note is that I NEVER WENT TO ANY TUITION CLASSES EITHER. I didn't like the classes I went to in 9th so in 10th I ignored it.

But those muggers are always mugging up stuff and getting good marks, they tell me that how smart/intelligent you are or how good your understanding is doesn't matter, its only the MARKS that matter. And their parents flaunt these marks. What a strange thing... :P

they tend to be not so good in their higher studies or in their jobs after their academic life is over

Yes, I've noticed that a lot myself. Can't say much about that, but I know it happens to a lot of people. Then they get down and say something about how the "low scorers" have risen, while the truth was they were never better in the first place :P

But in case of jobs, usually jobs are only offered to the ones that score higher marks, it pisses me off to no end. So, the "first oppurtunity" advantage still goes to them.

Well, depends on what stream I get. As such I have good interest in biology (and I used to score pretty good in bio in Xth also), so I don't have any qualms taking this stream. But Hindi was a difficult subject for me in Xth (though I still managed to score 80:P), I hope it will be easier in 11th and 12th.

If you start judging yourself by your CBSE marks, then well ...

I know people who've left out 10-15 marks worth of stuff on their tests and scored 97, 95 etc ...

CBSE = BULLSHIT.

I can assure you thats not the case (at-least not always). At least in the IT field, you will see that kind of trend only with the Indian based IT companies like TCS, Infosys and Satyam. Putting a high cut of on academic scores and shortlisting rather than doing a through assessment of the candidates capabilities is a lot simpler for them. So along with the people with good skills, many people with poor skills end up there just because of good academic scores.

I have myself interviewed (on my companies behalf) some candidates working for these companies and even though they have good academic scores and 2~3 years experience, their fundamentals in programming were very weak and they did not get through. Thats because even though they were working for some time, there was no learning involved.

Of course you cannot expect to land in a good job without decent scores, but IMO a 70~80% score in academics and an in-depth knowledge of the field is enough to land you in a good job at the good foreign MNC in India. Most of the good companies do not have ridiculously high requirements on the academic side, as they going to test your skills throughly through their own procedures before they take you in.
