Official Statement: 15.09.2009

On the date 09.09.2009 we have been under Hacker Attack, and they succesfully managed
to Delete all our Databases, this includes ExDesi.com, Desi6.com, Erenna.com, Desi6Pics.com
and many other sites!

We (ExDesi Inc.) have NOTTING against any site, we run our own show and we try to do it
without harming or disturbing anyone! but still we have some people who might be releated
to other sites who thought its fun to KILL ExDesi.com, is that fair? _NO_

We (ExDesi Inc.) been serving our members since 5 years with lots of goodies, without getting
any benafit, if you think our donation or the incom we get is alot, then you are wrong...
we earn less than 300euro per month, and we pay 360euro for our server!
and we got many other bills to pay too.

This downtime costed us almost 4000Euro to bring ExDesi.com Online again, as we been paying
to many Technicians to recover the files, with no luck - yet still little luck.

We need your support in financial matters.
Kindly donate to us, type your Name/Username in Comment field, so we know who care for us.

anyways it was a great site, i had downloaded almost 150gb from that alone

mostly the pakistani stage dramas urdu and punjabi..- which were not so easlly available at other torrent sites!!

Man..that is sad. It was a very good website with great desi content. Damn those hackers :@
I hope it is online soon with torrents and everything.

Lack of processes, means wipeout...

Even a weekly offsite backup would have been good enough.

Plus they could have kept running various tools to check the status of their site in terms of security.

Most of these Desi sites have a ploy to get money from people. Its either this or perennial hardware upgrades.

I know a few Desi sites admins who collect donations then leave for vacations.

thats a question that deserves an answer, so.....
As they said.. they already had lots n lots of expenses.. taking backup of such a huge and amazing database would actually increase the expenses.. So thats the reason probably. :(

Thanks for the info :)
Well, they always advertise that they are falling short of cash and request donations. But the no. of ads/pop ups on their site is ever increasing. Correct me if i am wrong, wouldn't ads alone fetch enough money to recover the cost?

Whats your best rectal extraction figure in terms of GBs ?

Pure text, one assumes, unless its of a binary kind...

But, all torrent sites say that they don't have any movies, songs, apps, OSs, other stuff, etc that people download from their sites. They say they have only small files known as torrents which are pointers or redirectors...

In Sysadmin field, we have a saying for backup that "Its always Better to be safe than sorry". moreover backup is not that expensive as you think. 10GB - $5/month or 100GB - $20/month which pennies compared losing the data all together.
