Experience with Speedpost

Firstly, this is NOT a courier service. This is POST. The postal service run by the govt. SpeedPost is so called because they (claim to) deliver your stuff much quicker than regular mail.

Have shipped many products through speedpost. None of them was ever lost. Though many took a long time to reach their destination(upto 15 days). Also my admit card for a exam which was shipped to me via speedpost reached me 6months after the exam.

well isnt that totally opposite of what agantuk is saying, i mean they are suppose to be fast arent they?
My experience with Speed Post thus far has been very good. None of the packages were lost, and most often they reach pretty much within a week. And, speed post seems the only option in many smaller cities and towns. I would trust speedpost more than most private courier services.
I have used Speed Post to send almost 10-12 items which were majorly electronics like Mobiles, Replacement parts, accesories like headsets, usb modem, even a boz which contained a CPU+Mobo+Ram packed in a huge box with lots of protective bubble wrap & air bags.
My experience with all of the shipments is extremely good, immediate tracking from booking office to end delivery, not a single shipment lost in delivery transit or was tampered with. Delivery times of 3-4 Working days anywhere in India.
You are not even asked what the shipment contents are inside.
Cost effective shipping charges & all India delivery.
Although I would recommend Speed Post as shipping option for Low value items or which cant be broken by shocks (e.g.Books etc)
Only a recent bad experience on one recent shipment, where in the bad handling by Speed Post guys resulted in a cracked mobile display, although it was a low value phone the packaging was very protective with a Bubble wrap 3 layer on Box & a bubble wrap layer inside of the box too, but dont know how in the world those guys managed to break the display.
Overall Speed Post is a good option for shipping, just make sure you pack carefully to avoid damage.

I recently ordered an item from an online store which was shipped via SpeePost. The online store gave me a tracking number and when I tried tracking it after a few days it shows that the package was delivered to me, but I've never received it to date.
I am planning to go and lodge a complaint at the Post office (which is the last in the tracking list) and ask them to whom they have delivered it (have checked with all my neighbors and no one has received it).
So a little caution is advised.

^ have sent few items via speedpost, they got delivered

Well I sent the package yesterday and it still shows not available in the tracking page. Just hope it reaches the other side, even though the tracking info says unavailable.

Thanks a lot, the report says: Bag Number EBD0002385769 Opened . What do they mean by opened? I hope its not that they have opened my parcel?
^^ Nope. It just means that the gunny bag or whatever bag with all the parcels in it has been opened.

No mate your parcel is not opened.
What actually happens is this : all the parcel to a particular location is stuffed in bigger bags and are numbered. Now these bags are transported to the next place. Where they are opened, and again sub-sorted according to location, so on and so forth, until it reaches the actual destination

oh thanks a lot for that explaination. when i asked the guy at the post office he said it is going to take 3 days to get it delivered from delhi to gujarat. do you think it can take even more time?
This SpeedPost delivery seems to be at the mercy of the postman (Govt. servants) in your area.
Apparently for my parcel which I never received I complained to the Superintendent and he called the Postman who said he came and asked our neighbors and they said there is no one like that in this area (which is very difficult to believe because I had specifically told my neighbors a few days before that I was expecting a parcel and gave each one my name on a slip of paper). I am trying to follow up with the sender now to get it again.
Also yesterday my Dad was supposed to receive a parcel through them and seeing what happened to my package, he went to the post office and asked the Postman who first mentioned that there is no parcel like that received. My Dad then went to the Super and complained who checked the tracking number and said yes it is here (during this time the Postman got desperate and managed to find the parcel). However it was already opened and looks like that fellow had tried to see what was in it.
So if you have a choice try to avoid this at all costs and go for any other Courier service.

Shipped clothes to my sis in US via speed post. The consignment reached the destination in 8 days, but the actual delivery did not take place immediately as my sister is at office when they come and they have a policy of not delivering to anyone else (reception desk of the building) unless a letter of authorization is given.
