Two of my drives failed recently [500gb Seagate and 1TB WD Green] after almost 4.5 years of use and thanks to the old 5yr warrnaty got them RMAed:) I already have a 1TB portable drive and now I'm looking to get a new external 2TB drive as I'm not keen on getting an internal drive which has 1year less warranty than the external ones:annoyed: I have shortlisted the Seagate Backup Plus and WD My Book since I need the power button on the drive(afaik WDElements & Seagate Expanison dont have it)

As of now I'm inclined towards getting the Seagate Backup Plus drive since I have read WD My Book comes with Green HDD inside and recently those are having pretty bad failure rates:unsure: and also its cheaper than WD My Book.

Needed a feedback on these two drives and any other suggestions would be welcome.:)

Get the Backup Plus. @chaitu.genius posted charts of read speeds for external drives and the Backup Plus was doing 90~100MBps.

BTW warranty aside, I've always seen external drives crash sooner than internal drives :P. Anyway, always have a SMART monitoring tool running in your background, should help you keep tabs on disks about to crash ;)
