ok guys i am in hunt for a vfm external hard disk and below are some of the rates i found out. i need your suggestion for choosing the most vfm hard disk.

1) Maxtor 500gb - Rs 3850 (3 yrs warranty)
interface - usb

2) Seagate 500gb - Rs 4250 (5 yrs warranty)
interface - usb and esata (i donot require esata as of now but will definitely be a bonus in future)

3) Western Digital 640gb internal hard disk + Cooler Master Casing - Rs 5600 (5 yrs warranty for hard disk + 1 yr warranty for casing)
interface - usb and esata (i donot require esata as of now but will definitely be a bonus in future)

4) Maxtor 1tb - Rs 6300 (3 yrs warranty)
interface - usb

I am more inclined towards option 2) and 4). Also if there are any other options not mentioned then please share. I didnot mention Western Digital external hard disk as the rates were not attractive as the above ones. Waiting for your worthy suggestions. :)

I am assuming the external hard disk will be used for back-up purposes. Even though esata would be great but it should not be a determining factor in the purchase consideration.

At 6300/-, the 1 TB Maxtor is a great option. I mean honestlly, would you really care much about the t/f speeds for a data back-up drive.

Cheers!

Where are you getting these good prices from man??

ebay.in with discount coupon.

i have ordered seagate freeagent pro 500gb, maxtor 1tb was very tempting but it has only 3 yrs warranty.

to be honest, be it a backup drive or a OS drive, transfer speeds to matter a lot. Why would u wanna wait for hours for things to be transferred through USB when the same can be done through esata. so if u can afford esata/sata drives then i think ur better of buying them.
