Frankly speaking it is very important. One can easily sell a dead drive to an unsuspecting buyer who will find out the drive is dead only after receiving it. Seller can pin the fault on shipping.
Seller will then have to pay visits to service center which usually takes 3 weeks to replace HDD.

such a thing happened to me so i am cautioning others.
