Hi ,

I am purchasing a new 23inch LCD shortly to replace my current 17" CRT, I am also planning to convert the old CRT to a TV to be placed as a different setup , so here is the deal .

I need an external TV tuner box to which the monitor will be attached via a VGA cable and the TV tuner will get the input from the TATA sky set top box, the catch here is: since this is an independent setup, no CPU will be attached to the TV tuner box , I will also have to figure out the way to route the audio either from the set top box or from the tv tuner box to a 2.0 speaker set.

The advice I need from all of you is :

1. Is this doable ?
2. Which set top box should I insist upon from the Tata SKY blokes?
3. Suggestions on External TV tuner boxes capable of CPU less operation , VGA out with sufficient input options to connect the set top box (a decent resolution of 800X600 to 1024X768 is pretty much acceptable to me , HD res is not a requirement )

Help me out PPL .. this is a decent experiment.

Hmm...

It's possible and I've done it, when my mom broke our TV.

There are many external TV tuner Boxes available in the market.Just go out and buy them. The tricky part is the the AV cables which don't fit some of them.Just keep in mind while buying(Look out for AV cable inputs). But if u don't get anything like that then just don't worry about it.Just hook up those AV cables into those holes and Tape them firmly.Look u can buy converter cables, but a little idea(using tapes) saves time and money.

Not much but I've got the Supercomp LCD TV Box, which does not have the proper AV inlets.Just go ahead and search the market. Many new products must have been arriving.
