yup.. try it out.. its giving me a 435 watt consumption target. So accordingly i can buy a 550Watt to be safe.. why get something which could be an overkill.. if you planning to do CF/SLI there is an option too..

Btw: there are many calculators..

^^ You are running all that on a CM Extreme 600W ??? You are on shaky ground man ! At least swap it for a Corsair 450W at a minimum if you are a bit short on cash.

lol it works fine.. been running that on that PSU since a year :)
but how come a 600 watts PSU is on shaky grounds when compared to a 450 one ? :S

omg.. not again :P

Please use SEARCH- this topic of CM600 in general and the CM600 vs VX450 has been discussed to utter boredom and still i see some lame remarks coming through.

Corsair VX450 vs CM exteme power 600 (some key differences)

(1) Rated at 50 degreesC (iirc/afaik) vs rated at 25 degreesC

(2) Active PFC (0.99) vs passive PFC

(3) 80%+ efficiency guranteed vs 70% roughly.

(4) Hi-Qual Jap caps vs not so Jap caps

(5) Double ball bearing fan vs sleeve bearing fan most prolly

(6) 5 yr warranty vs 3 yr warranty

(7) Seasonic vs Seventeam budget/value range.

it works is no reason to believe that it'll continue to do so. and continue well at that :)

even my config is runnin well on that PSU from past 1 1/2 yrs

E6400 @3.2ghz

Abit IP-35 PRO

Axeram 960MHz 2*1 Gb

CM600

ATI 4870 (Earlier i had 8800gtx)

Xbox 360 controller always connected

2 HDDs (500+640)

2 DVD writers

MX518

4 FANS

Keyboard

these are all the components drawing power thru my PSU ... might be some more if i add my USB devices

u can also use the power supply usage calculator from asus site..

though this 1 offers much more...

CM 600 W extreme power as the name mentions is the PMPO equilant of peak power versus RMS value of Corsair VX 450.

Few key differences:

1) Single rail on Corsair Ensures that in case any single component requires more than 18*12=206 watts on a single rail, Corsair can run it, but CM cant.

2) Corsair 450 can go as high as 570 watts with 80% efficiency

3) Very low ripple and noise

You can get away with CM 600W EP, but you are not doing justice to your system. PSU is the building block for any system, investing in a good PSU ensures trouble free experience with lower power consumption.

Also PSU is another component which can be reused. I myself bought Corsair 620HX just for this simple reason.

a good cabby and PSU is gona be my next upgrade :)

same here.. how about a corsair 620? .. cuz in the future i am planning for mainly a CF of 4870.. and my P5Q3 might come this month end :)

cool.. what the difference/benefit of modular ones like tagan et all ?
Also, i want my system to be future proof as i might be doing CF/SLI .. which ones the best out there ?

620/650/tagan700 should hold you good for a 4870cf easily.

the modular ones are just that. Modular. you use only the cables you need. makes cable management a much easier job. other than that they are pretty much on the same plane.

@bf1983.. cant really say that the 650tx is much better. especially when the corsair rep on jonnyguru forums has himself said that the 650tx is nothing but a non modular supply thats equivalent to the hx620 when it comes to performance.

who said internet is a small place ? :| .. its not possible to know every website right ? .. good that ya'll know.. :P
