Fake CPUs on Flipkart and amazon.

I think we need a separate thread to track scammy sellers on Flipkart/Amazon. This does not look like the platform's fault but the seller trying to get away.

Retailnet is one of the official sellers in FK. So I have suspicions on how far up this rot goes. At least they have open box for these items. Amazon does not have it, I believe.

I have never had an issue with Amazon. This time we ordered something from an uncertain seller.
So after giving otp, we unboxed in front of him on camera, just in case. He was ok with it, turned out fine too.
This seems like a good enough proof.

I wonder what the guy would have done if there was an issue. Did he tell you what they are instructed to do in such a case ?
At least FK has an explicit open box.

No idea, but again i have never had amazon cs reject replacement if there is an issue. My account is old, that probably helps.
But in terms of proof it seems enough if one is ready to fight - we will have the delivery guy on video and unboxing in same video.

For higher value items, this is what i will do. I haven't ordered anything from FK for many many years though. Too many reports of frauds.
Don't understand wtf are their heads doing.
Even amazon i think did not do anything once a fraud seller was caught here? ( i think) selling something whose serial no was on bill of another guy who got fake instead.
It has become a business.

This is just so scary, especially for people who are using c/o (care-of) addresses. Thankfully, Amazon is customer centric. I don't know about other sites though (*cough* ... flipk...). I use a care-of address 100% of the time since mid 2023.

Update: Got replacement today, that also appeared fake to me. This CPU had the plane heat spreader too and afaik, the 9800x3d has the heat spreader with square wave pattern like edges. This time, the delivery person told me that it is Not an open box delivery. But after looking at the heat spreader, i told him to cancel the order. I dont know how come retailnet got screwed with fake CPUs.

Another note AM5 CPUs don't have pins.
Pins are on the motherboard CPU socket.
Seems to be either AM4 CPU, where the IHS has been retched with laser or some paint.

Fk's open box delivery is a double edged sword imo. Say a tech illiterate person orders the CPU and some motherboard, the motherboard doesn't arrive yet and the person have no idea what the CPU is supposed to look like. Then he would have no reason to reject the package. If I am not wrong, the buyer cannot complain later once he accepted the open box delivery item.

Amazon's 10 or so day return policy is the best.

They don't have one for computer components like CPU. It has been some time now but they mark them as non returnable. So without open box you are FKD and have to be at the mercy of the customer care. Like someone mentioned earlier if you have an account with good standing with them then they may consider but they are not really bound to do anything.

Wait, I did not know that. Must be why they just refunded me the ssd and case I ordered on amazon when I had problems with them instead of taking them back.

So, there is a very high probably of getting fked both on Amazon and flipkart with some items. Must be very careful from now on.

Wasn't there a similar case in Mumbai where the stolen CPU was put for sale on FB Marketplace and the seller was called out by TE members? Is this happening in particular cities/last mile deliveries or a much bigger operating network?

Yes you can never be too careful with any seemingly "sweet" deals now. @darksmart was literally smart in his dealings. Others might have accepted them right away. Better be safe than sorry is my mantra now after I've had many experiences buying online. I go the extra mile even if it's not for me. If the seller says he's lazy or throws up any red flag then I'm out! It sucks to see people get scammed in today's age.

This isn't new as well.

There was another thread on this forum at the time of last big billion days sale. The well-known users on this forum had found matching Sl. No.s of CPUs being sold of FB marketplace. Listed in every major city in India.

I had also ordered 7700x with the help of @solo_wing. Ultimately had to cancel it as lots of people were receiving fakes. I just settled with a 7600x3d from a relative from the microcentre US.

The instances of these things happening with ShitKart are always higher than those of Amazon. Especially considering this also happens with Retailnet, their own partner, as @ibose rightly mentioned, do NOT order high-ticket PC parts from them, especially CPUs.

I remember @OMEGA44-XT also getting a fake 7600 from Cock&BallsKart.

The best thing to do for PC components is to stick to places specific to the category, even if you have to pay a bit more. At least you have peace of mind, such as OnlySSD, Prime, Vedant, MD, Computech, etc. There may be logistical issues or DoAs, but you can be assured that you will NEVER get fakes with these storefronts.
