Graphic Cards Fan Speed of 8800GTX

Hi, I went to a friend yesterday for troubleshooting his 8800GTX and came out as an idiot. His card hangs whenever he tries to run 3dMark/games after overclocking even by 10Mhz. His Fan was running at 60%, so I decided to change the speed with rivatuner(ntune not working on his system), though rivatuner now shows it to 100% but everest and rivatuner hardware monitor shows the fan cycle at 60%. Temps are way too high, almost 65-68 @ idle,(though i dont know whether its a high temp. or OK temp. for XFX 8800GTX). I believe if he is able to increase the fan speed he will be good to go, so can anyone suggest any application which will let the fan speed be increased in actual.
 
65-68C idle is "normal" for an 8800GTX... what core clock is he trying to run the card at, 675mhz?
 
oh ok...though thats what he said but i was insisting that 65-68 is not very good for idle temps. Nopes he was trying for something like 630Mhz on the core and 950Mhz on the memory. Though eventually even 600 and 930 Mhz didnt work. He has a BH-02-02 cabbie, side panel open and ambient temp of around 25C.
 
The guide is damn nice man...i think i was changing fan speed from the wrong window and hence it was having no effects...now will try this on my friends system and hope it works....repped for such a fast response but if it does not work then give those rep points back....:ohyeah: :ohyeah:

With a AS5 remount and 100% fan speed, in XP, i get around 55C idle temps and around 71C loaded at 621Mhz/1044Mhz clock speed.

Before applying as5, i was almost near 70C idle and 88C loaded with 100% fan speed.

on the Stock cooler? :O
 
w/ that aftermarket cooler temps do really dip. don't they? how much can anyone here max oc their gtx to?
