Hi Guys,

Can anybody here suggest where can i find a Fanless PSU in Delhi Np or some Online website in India ??

would at max require 400watts for a HTPC

Many Thanks

The only one available AFAIK, would be the Antec Phantom 500w which has been discontinued;

Antec.com - Phantom

And it was tad expensive at around 8000 bucks [IIRC] at the time it was available;

The Corsair VX450 is also a good PSU for an HTPC; Nothing like an overkill; Its a good investment;

When the system idles, the 120mm ADDA fan spins with a very low rpm ensuring silence; At least that'll be the least noisiest [in my HX620] among the 120mm fans in my system; :)

This should help:

There was a cheaper Antec Phantom 350W also. Look around you might find it somewhere or try contacting theitdepot.com

AFAIK none of the 8800GTs're passively cooled; It wont be a really efficient one if there was one except for the fact that it wouldn't disspate noise!! :P

May I ask u what ur requirement is??? :)

8800GT for a HTPC?

Yup, this is 101% another Crazysah thread.

Wait a sec, guys, do there "Help with HTPC Config" people actually think that HTPC is an evolved version of the regular PC and hence these threads? :huh:

Just slap an Accelero S1 R2 on that 8800GT. No fan needed :).
About the PSU, as Greenhorn was saying, you don't really need a 0db PSU. Many of todays top PSU in the ~400W catagory make very little noise and are inaudible unless you pay attention and listen..

Paid 7K for my Antec 350W Phantom. It's still installed and lying unused in my unfinished 2nd PC(never got around to finishing it).

I started up my 2nd PC once to test it. If it wasn't for my proccy(and the extremely noisy Benq DW1650 writer), I wouldn't have known that my PC has started up :ohyeah: .

Ok first of all ...Apologies to all for starting a thread and not putting the overall things in prespective.

Now, what started a stupid discussion amongst freinds over a game of GOW....has now become a challenge.

The Task : To build a machine good enough to hold its fort in front of mighty ps3 (debatable...thats what we are trying to beat here), for HD Media / Multichannel Sound and Most Importantly HD Gaming.

The Triky part : To match PS3 in its low noise output as much as possible.

The Approach (Thinikin) So Far : Use Mid Level Components with a carefull blend of components between a Gaming Rig and HTPC.

and that is where the thinking started from. Now since i was out of some latest technological developments for last 6 months or so.. my knowledge was limited. Started to read about it all Monday onwards.. and was just looking at 8800passive on Anandtech AnandTech: Sparkle 8800 GT Passive: The Fastest Silent GPU in the World.

First Roadblock: realised a 400watts psu and 8800gt dont go hand in hand.
So, what do u guys say.. the thing that's in our hands is we agreed on a max budget of 50-60k only for the Base Unit ... i.e all peripherals extra...which includes any display chosen.

errr...actually u can run an 8800GT on a 400W, a very GOOD 400W mind u :P Thats wat i run ;) But nowadays the corsairs of the world are cheaper :ashamed:

sparkle is sold in India by abacus peripherals..

they can get any of the sparkle stuff you might need in case they dont already stock it.

google them up
