Out of all the gadgets you have bought, which one would you pick as your best purchase? (If you built your own computer, pick one component :P). Maybe because it was the most useful, best value for money, lasted the longest or had the best design. Any reason. Pick one.

Mine would be the iPod 4th gen with Click Wheel. Novel (at that time) and easy to use interface, great overall design and worked for a really long time. I bought it after the next model had come out, so got a reasonably large discount as well.

Good idea for a thread

Mine is perhaps the original Nokia N-Gage. Yes, it bombed as a gaming device, but it was pleasure to text around 100-150 messages per day on this device. I owned both the N-Gage Classic as well as the N-Gage QD.

Even mine was also related to gaming,

PSP 3004 with God of war is equal to portable awesomeness

As of now iPhone 4S as this is what I use everyday for almost everything from accessing emails, casual surfing, forums, once in a while gaming.

Apart from this, one which I don't use much as of now is the Sansa Clip+ which i consider my best investment for personal music consumption.

It has to be Nokia 3650, it was way ahead of its time when i got it :), a close second was nokia 8310, still i miss that phone.

Yeah especially 3650 is built like a tank and with Symbian OS those seems like a blessing that time :)

I remember 16 Mb Sd card that came with it, seems like a lot of memory that time.

The greatest gadget of all time personally for me would be the Thinkpad

The greatest gadget which brought about a complete revolution and kick started genres - The sony walkman

The greatest phone of all time - nokia 3310 and its derivatives

The greatest smartphone of all time for me - Motorola Defy

For me the favourite gadget title is a tie between the Thinkpad x220 and the Motorola Defy

I really like my Sansa Fuze (mp3 player). Cheap (bought it for something between 2300-3200, can't remember exactly, back in 2009), durable and great value for money. I'd rather buy this baby than those low end iPods.

My phone - good old Nokia 5800 XM. More than 3 years now, works solid, still gives battery back up of more than 2 days, and gives me immense satisfaction each time I see an Android or iPhone guy tells that xyz feature has been 'added', and I say, 'it took them so long? bah' :D I am absolutely a fan of the offline navigation as I don't require any stupid data pack - I still operate this without one till date.

I am also in the same boat. Still using Nokia 5800XM, didn't really realize the music quality of this phone till dad got himself a Galaxy Ace and the first time I listened to some music using my headset on Ace, I said "Yukk...the sound quality is awful, and where is the BASS??" That was the time I realized how great my 5800XM was in music department.:hail:

But mine favourite gadget was Nokia N82. Oh man, what a device it was. Specially the camera with Xenon flash. Plus there was some dedicated graphics chip also on that phone which made gaming(ngage 2.0 games? ) so much fun. I just loved that phone....until it got stolen !

my most fav gadget is my wireless router. I might go mad if I didnt have one.

4s for me too.

Hmm
My greatest gadget would be my phone 2g
I bought it in a time when iphones were too rare
I was amazed by the motion sensor games when I saw it on YouTube (nfs underground)
I bought it second hand through orkut
It was a heavy risk in your undergraduate days but that was the level of obsession!!!

I surfed through a 100 YouTube videos about jailbreaking, game play etc.
Once I got the phone I was blown away by the fluid interface
I embarked on the journey of jailbreaking when my parents slept
It went on from 2am to 5am and I finally did it!

I enjoyed that phone most kept it for a year (no other phone lasted that long with me till date!

I don't think there has been any gadget and innovation after first iphone
I bought galaxy s, s2, 4s, s3, iphone5, note 2 now but no one really amazed me

I love you iphone 2g

For me, it's the Samsung Galaxy Vibrant 4G that I invested in about a year and a half ago. Best deal ever. I had promised myself that I would purchase a Galaxy S, the moment I had drooled at the S-AMOLED screen for the first time. Since the price was too high at launch, I got it a bit later. It was a complete mess to start off with Android's wonky OS, as I was used to Apple's smooth interface. But once I flashed to stock Gingerbread, everything was a smooth experience. I absolutely love the video clarity on this piece. I have people constantly asking me while traveling as to which model this is and keep telling me how vibrant the screen looks. Playing 720p videos and support for .avi and .mkv is all I could ever ask of it. Have watched end number of TV shows and listened to hours of music on it. I still haven't explored the 3G avenue yet, but will do that in a while. This is, without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite portable gadget.
