Feb 24th : Quake Live goes open for all to play in four days,

Id Software's Quake Live has been in development in closed beta for nearly 7 months now, and will enter Open Beta stage for everyone to play in just four days on February 24th.
 
as useless as the closed beta for the people in this country. i was one of the earliest to get invited... almost right after QL went closed beta but i haven't played even one game online yet.

no asian servers = pointless.
 
true, I have played it today. Although game mechanics seem very good, the ping is what put me off. Its hardly possible to play with 200 pings and I dont think they have really worked on the stupid netcode we had to live with the Quake 3 days..

Cant you play that and confirm ashr..
 
i have tried it online... just haven't played any matches because of the ping. yes, the netcode is nowhere close to Quake 3 + CPMA.
 
Are people here still playing this game? I am giving it a try. I wonder if people here might be interested in this game. Its available for linux too, that's why I am specially interested in trying it out.
 
i play it and manage to beat some koreans and japanese with 200 ping. if only someone from india were generous enough to donate a box and bandwidth to id. they'd run a server here. i'm kinda in talks with them but things don't look that bright right now. let's see how it goes.

Wel said. Been trying to play this since last 6 months or so, neer got a ping below 200. :(
 
I shall be playing this game from today onwards.Hope I find servers with atleast 200 ping. I find it playable but not competitive. Hope to see you guys today after 6:30 PM.
