Linux Fedora 12 is Mute!

Hey,
I installed Fedora 12 KDE x84_86 on my laptop. I've installed Fedora 11 and it worked fine previously. But now there's no sound on my system..
help?

try opening the kmix icon (the speaker icon) in your kde system tray and unmute (uncheck all mute boxes) and raise the various volume level sliders to high and save/exit (and do a reboot to confirm its saved) then check again?

its more likely a kde issue than anything else (i think i faced same thing)... just need to set alsa volumes (with above method) and save it in alsa config...

Try the above , if that too fails. then return back with information about your hardware.
