Zigwheels measured fuel efficiency(city) @ 7.8 km/l for the 1.4L FIRE & 11.1 km/l for the 1.3L Diesel. Can this be true? If so, it's ridiculous.

Quite unlikely, since the diesel variant uses the same MJD engine used in Swift, Vista and Palio Style. May be slightly lower than them since I heard that GP is heavier. And they do get >20kmpl in highway.

Looks great and great pricing as well, however I wonder if it's even half as much fun to drive as it looks.

I wish they'd launched the 1.6L diesel also. Too bad the i20 1.4/1.6L CRDi is going to eat it up.

Perhaps.. when its released. There's no i20 diesel.

And if rumours are to be believed, Fiat plans to bring in 1.6L engines towards the end of the year.

The FE test by Zigwheels is definitely skewed. I can confirm that even the heavier Linea (petrol) manages a respectable 10km/l in the city.

FE figures are too dependent on driving style. When I push my (extremely inefficient) Opel Corsa 1.4 to the limits, I get no better than 7.5/12, when I'm mellow I get 11/15 or 16. FE is as much a function of shifting and braking as it is of the engine capability. If the FE and acceleration tests were conducted simultaneously, you can expect low figures.

But isn't applicable to all cars and not just GP. It is only a generalized statement. Else you can add things like clogged air filters, worn clutch plate etc. etc.;)

If you read the zigwheels test, you'll understand why I said that. They were testing it all together, so we don't know under what conditions the test was done. It has become a topic of debate because of that very reason.

Maybe but then taking into consideration the current prices for the i20 with that stupid 1.2L engine, its pretty obvious that the 1.4L CRDi isn't going to be cheap by any stretch of imagination.

going a bit off-topic, but is the i20 and the i10 on the same base? or does the i20 actually have more room and all.... because it seems to have the same specs dimension wise, just costs a lot of money

^ the i20 is a lot bigger than the i10. where did you check the specs? go have a look again.

punto may not look 'sexy'. but it looks 'smart' and 'classy'. :D the pricing is really great i would say. lets wait for the review.

Totally true - I've managed to get FE as high as 16 and as low as 4 from my car. I'm sure the 1.4 will do atleast 10 in the city. My 2 liter cedia manages 10 in horrid bangalore traffic.

Is this on the roads yet? because i swear i saw one zoom by on the highway near my home..

i only got a good glimpse of the back, it had that big FIAT logo, and didnt look like the palio at all (no, it wasnt the Linea either)
