Linea looks very good!!

BTW the Xylo seems neat and cheap as well :)

Yep,Saw the black top-end XYLO E8 model at Mahindra,Velachery...

Lot of innovation & thought into design & features...

Seems decent enough for its price !

but as of now finish isn't good! small issues here & there...

Looks like they are in a hurry to roll out xylos

i think primary school kids can make better designs than whoever designed the xylo :P

it looks like a better looking design that melted in the sun :bleh:

no thanks :bleh: its a downgrade

and yeah xylo is pretty decent , they should have gone for a conventional look for the front and it would have done pretty ok in the taxi/travels sector

Let's hope Fiat pulls off this one ! I have a lot of expectations from the linea, gp range.

@Battli: A proper upgrade would be the bravo if it's indeed being made here :P

The Linea ad in a daily....

Did a test drive few days back, here are few things which i posted in some other forum .....

Took a test drive a while back and i am impressed, apart from power car's got everything lol

i mean to me it felt underpowered but its pretty neat for city driving, there is loads and loads of low end torque and low gearing also helps. there is no turbo kick feel as in swift, pulls cleanly from 1500-1800 RPM till 4500 RPM engine begs not to be revved , there is some diesel engine type noise till 2500RPM but after that it sounds nice, bit similar to petrol engine. gearshift are short and slots pefectly.

steering wheel was lighter than palio but doesn't felt dead as some other cars. interior are good but plastics could have been little better.

cabin insulation is amazing, no road/tyre/outside noise at all but engine exhaust noise was there in cabin just like palio, all around visibility is excellent i was more comfortable driving it than palio in city altho its a big car.

styling is fantastic front looks smashing specially in person..... looks lot better than pics lol . boot space is good, i guess class leading. head space is less in rear as said by everyone.

about service the sales person said the same thing that they are improving. even the sales person knew that i am not a prospetive buyer for linea i got good response. sales guy answered most of the question. about engine he told me petrol is 1.4 90bhp unit, he also knew that its sold with 1.4 77bhp in some places. he said that there is good response and there are 4-5 bookings even wihout knowing the price.

i guess if FIAT does something wrong again this time with A.S.S. they should pack their bags and go back home

EDIT: i guess steering wheel is similar to stock palio as my car's steering is little hard because of tyres.

pulls cleanly from 1500-1800 RPM till 4500 RPM engine begs not to be revved ,

Diesel engines shouldn't be revved anyways. 4500 RPM is pushing it, the perfect shift point for that engine is around 3000-3500 rpm but definitely below 4000 rpm to stay in the powerband. Try doing that and see how it pulls in almost every gear :)

For that matter, even in the Octy, it doesn't like to be revved even in the 3K+ band. All the fun is in the 2K-3K band :)
BTW, since i am a prospective buyer, have been reading a bit about this engine (Read: VGT version)

It can be chipped i guess. So even if it goes in the range of 110 Bhp it will help a lot.

I am sure Pete's will come out with something for it ;)

Drove the car today too and was surprised. The engine was quite refined and very linear torque, showed no signs of turbo lag at any time. drove shifting at 2-2.5k rpm and it made it quite quickly to 80 in 4th and was a joy to just cruise around. Braking was a huge plus and steering felt well weighted though slightly light.

only downside to the car was the slightly average quality of plastics used inside and the handrest which when down doesnt allow you to reach the gear lever making it useless

It would have benefited greatly with another 10-15bhp but still overall its a very solid product.
