PC Peripherals Final Gaming Rig Config - Review

Guys,

After taking all of your inputs into consideration, reading through lots of reviews and visiting the hectic SP road 3 times for quotations etc I am down with my following config:

MSI P55 GD 65 (Among lots of choices this one has SLI/Crossfire, one touch OC ability. I plan to do both

Samsung 22x DVD RW SATA

Logitech KB + Mouse

Corsair TX650

CM 690 Cabinet or Antec (Please advice which is better. Both are good and both are almost in the same price range)

90cfm coolermaster led silent fan for front and rear.(120mm)
80cfm coolermaster led silent fan for sidepanels and top(120mm)
Samsung 23" P2350

Dust filters if available for the fans.

Please let me know any improvements or any comments on any of the components or their brands. All of your comments are appreciated.

squeeze in 24" HD monitor....such firepower needs justice:D

Hey gowtham thanks for your reply. The GSKill ones come for 7k i guess. Ill enquire though.

Saphhire is a tad costly at 17-18k. MSI is 16k. I can go for it.

Golchcha, Ankit etc here dont have anything except cm. I enquired.

I am sticking with the 690. Just decided. And for the fans I guess it should be 60cfm for the side and top. Sorry I posted it as 80. I started a thread in techspot.com under mobos forum. check it out. Its titled nzxt gamma. the guy called dividebyzero has explained that a powerful side fan or a top fan will disrupt airflow from the front to the back. so he recommended 90cfm fans for front and rear along with the stock fans in 690 and I am planning to add one 60 cfm fan at the top and leave the side stock fan as it is. What do you think?

btw a 24" inch screen is about 13k a little too much

hey and btw any hardware store has these meshes?..

Logitech KB + Mouse

get something better for gaming.

Keyboard will OK, but you will need to get better mouse.

Gigabyte M8800/ M8000 for budget ~8k

Logitech MX 518 ~1.5k

Steelseries Kinzu ~1.7k

See yourself and select which is better for you.

Dont get Gskill in INDIA...its rip off....Order from newegg it is listed @ 85$ when i last checked.

order fans from Mediahome.in....if u find golcha expensive. 90cfm LED fan cost 450Rs.

Benq 24" G2411HD LCD

Benq 24" G2420HD LCD

BenQ Global - Computing

BenQ Global - Computing

They cost less than <11k.

Hey gowtham Yes the monitor thing is a really good suggestion. Its 11k net. thats what golchaa told me. I think a 24 inch moniotor with hdmi etc for that price is really good. Ill go for it. Thanks for your suggestion.

Fans arent that expensive in golchaa. Its about 500 and max 600 bucks. I think with a little negotiation it should be ok.

Not sure about the GSKill though. Can you get it delivered in india from newegg?...

At newegg, the review of Seagate 1TB by the users was not good. The failure rate was high.

Go for Western Digital 7200 RPM with 32 MB Cache. I'm not sure about the name of the series.

Y always it is golcha ?? y ppl d go for other shops?? :bleh: i hav found man y other shops which give far better price than golcha..

golcha is official distributor for CM, Maudio etc and he stocks lot of stuff which are unavailable with everyone.

Ya lot of shops do give better prices for commonly available stuff though. And I need 120mm fans as usual......LED ones <250 bucks if anyone can find it plz pm em or post here

True there are lots of shops in SP road that give better prices. The reason I decided to go for Golcha was because he has lots of stuff that others dont have. For example lot of them dont have Fans and stuff. Ankit Infotech is a tad costlier than Golchaa. By far Golchaa had more stuff, and his prices were OK. I also enquired in IT Gains Compouters opposite Ankit Infotech. He for example quoted 9450/- for the I5 processor when Golchaa quoted 9900. But Golchaa quoted 9k for the motherboard and this guy said 9500. So you see its not like these shops that give better prices offer better prices for EVERYTHING. If you are buying 1 component like a mobo or a ram or something like that, it makes sense. But when you are building a rig I dont think it makes much of a difference where you buy it. At the most from my experiece of asking around in 6-7 shops the difference between the max and the min quote was like 500 bucks on the total after tax. Not much difference.

Yeah I am planning to get the GSKill ripjaws series. For the ones I mentioned I am paying 4800/-. But I enquired in another forum - anandtech where a guy told me that I dont need any fans apart from the ones in the CM 690 for starters. he said i could check it and then buy if i need, which seems a good idea. So am planning to put that money into the GSKill rams :)- they cost about 7k

Vijay, can I know what is the cheapest that you have been quoted for the i5 750 and where?

I ask as I have put up for a sale, an opened but unused i5 750 for sale and want to know what is the cheapest that a brand new one is available for.

@ vijay pick sumits i5 750...no sense in spending 700 more for a sealed processor.

The lowest price which my friend got i5 750 was 9.3k incl everything.

First few tips before buying new system :

1) Check prices

2) check is it new technology

3) Check is new tech gonna launch soon

4) Always do max research later do nt repent

...................................................................

BUY INTEL , never go for AMD unless ur budget kinda person

INTEL wil serve u well for ages

BUY ddr 3 upgradable mother board,nt the one which comes wit ddr3 (u can save it for nxt year)

buy SLI featured mother board both slots working @ 16x

BUy HDD wit 32mb buffer nt 16 mb check it before buying

BUY HDD which has max warrenty period(samsung provides 5 years)

i still recommend trancend rams 2gb wil do good as of nw wait for price depressiation

IMP==>> DO NOT BUY GRAPHICS CARD NOW SINCE NVIDIA GONNA LAUNCH DX 11 DDR5 CARDS, SO REST OF THE CARDS PRICE WIL FALL BY END OF THIS MONTH AS WELL ATI WIL PRICE BETTER TOO..

Dt go for too heavy processors ur processor technology wil go obsolate in 2 years time like mine did Q6600 2.4ghz wen compard to todays i7.

any quad core wil do good cuz future games wil depend on number of cores for gaming too..

BUY THE BEST SMPS AVAILABLE COZ U NEVER KW WEN U WANNA UPGRADE TO SLI.. 650W + WIL DO GR8!!
