good rig. me too getting my new desktop tomorrow - quad core goodness :)

so you got the xms2 ram :) i almost got it too but for my lowly intel dp35dp mobo...

Hi ,
Your config is just great :hap2:

But I think you could have saved a bit on some areas .

I mean do you "really" need a 4k cabby ? :bleh:

^^For such a rig, getting a 4k cabinet is very much "justified".

And AFAIK, i don't think that board has official support for the wofldale/45nm processors. Have you assembled it yet?

It is , if you throw the price vs performance equation out of your mind and buy components to complement the price of your other high-end components and not supplement their performance.

Yup, the P5N-E SLI does support the newer 45nm processors, all u need is a bios update.. dunno why u bought it, maybe coz u needed SLI and this is the cheapest option available?

WTH??? :S :S

Anyways.. Congrats on the purchase man..

The mobo mite need a BIOS update if it doesn ship with the latest one..

Post some benchies here..

Off lately a lot of 8400s around and the S-Pi scoreboard's still the same.. :|

well.... what I actually wanted was MSI P7N Platimum .. but no dealers in pune here... so I was left with 2x options ABIT or P5N-E-SLI.. again no service centers here for ABIT...(hate running here and there .. its such a pain in the a**.. )

Well.. I might have got MSI from somewhere.. but was kinda tired.. the LG LCD and Coolermaster was very tough to track down...

Why 4k cabby?.. well.. I usually troubleshoot my pc myself.. those 2nd grade cabbys have no space whatsoever .. and I was thinking of long term benefits.

Right now I got 2x IDE Hard Drives (7200.11 is outta stock... ).. 1x Dvd Writer.. say I get a SATA, 1x Left Side Fan, another Graphics Card and a TV Tuner Card... it would be a mess in those normal cabbys.. ..

CM690 is simply awesome... screwless design...proper ventilation.. cable management... design..SLI Certified... and a server cabinet .. all in all for 4.5k..

yea... the P5N-E-SLI does not detect those 8400s ... a bios upgrade to version 0901 is required..

Well the chipset might be old.. but its a decent board..

Il post the benchies and pics soon..

The board and cpu temp was a decent 42 and 40 celsius this morning.
