I personally found this a very useful program and it really works :hap2: At least its true for Memory part but Browsing is more or less the same("Better browsing speed" is only noticeable to 56K users. If you are a Broadband user, you will not really notice a difference), but there is definately a considerable drop in Memory usage:clap:

From what I've gathered from google, it forces Firefox to swap out memory usage from RAM to virtual memory. So it'll actually slow down FF.

Edit: @knoughtyd below: Slow down as in if u benchmark it. With the speeds of present day HDDs, I don't think anyone would notice the speed difference between virtual memory and RAM usage. My point is, I think it's still using the same amount of memory.

I always rely on the software tweaks in firefox, try this

Once you've loaded up firefox go to the address bar and type or copy and paste:

about:config

Right click and select: New -> Integer

Name the integer or copy paste:

nglayout.initialpaint.delay

Change the integers value to:

300

You can also use 0 (zero) as an Integer Value, if you don't like the performance of the 300 Integer Value.

Enjoy & Watch Your Speed!

Or If Not Try This One Too!

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining

network.http.proxy.pipelining

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere in the "aboug:config" page and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

4. Restart Firefox

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now.

94K was when my firefox stops responding.. and 300 was when it actually is not into use at the moment but is still in the process. oh well i'll try this one out.

Looks something which i wanted since a long time , but is it safe to use.

I mean hope its not having some malicious code , is it scanned properly.
