Always wondered how accidents happen. Now I know how

Was getting out of the parking lot , and onto the exit ramp, when I rammed into another guy who suddenly came out of a blind corner. I didnt see him, he didnt see me.

In the end , his body panel near the wheel got bent.

Me ?

left headlight, horn, bumper, all broken. god knows what else.:@

the worst part? The guy is about 5 steps above me in our organization chart :(

even though it was a bit my fault , its a bit his fault as well. This will eat up my this months pay for sure. Dad says I should ask him to bear a part of the cost, but i feel kinda intimidated :ashamed:.

No idea how its gonna turn out tomorrow
 
lol... so what if he's 5 steps above... be it a Chairman or a president of a co, u can write him a letter on the Co. letterhead regarding the amount he have to pay you or hike 50% salary from next quarter :P

Dude, dont worry.. just go n talk to him... So wat if he's 5 steps above from ur org.. if i were u, would go n speak to him regarding the damage n stuff.. He will surely help you out. 5 steps above means 5 times more cooler mind than you.. i am dead sure about that from my experience.

Oh I get bumps all the time auto rickshaws, cyclists, other motorists and once a bullet too. I tongue lashed everyone because there was no scope of reimbursement and no damage too :bleh: The bullet guy gave me a jolt tho; but I cut him some slack coz it was a bumper to bumper signal traffic and how much more would you want him to control the bike I mean its a Bullet for god sakes.

Bah ask him politely for reimbursement. Prolly he wont mind. See what happens when a TATA car is involved in a accident.
 
Just claim insurance and swallow the damage. Doesn't make sense to ask him for money if it was mostly your fault.

fault lies with both of us technically. the corner was blind for him and me. he didnt approach carefully, and jumped in front of me. i braked, but still ended up hitting him since i wasn't that slow either.

Lets see what the insurance figure will come to. The headlight and bumper will need replacement for sure, and the insurance on plastics is just 50%. and the horn inst working either
 
whatever happened to your insurance?

headlight and bumper, you'll get 50% back (plastic parts) but the labor will be 100% (= painting the bumper and fixing other body parts)

don't worry, total damages won't exceed 5-7K from your pocket
 
lets see the quotes. Something good might come out of this after all ;)

PS: I know about the insurance, but had a similar rear end shunt last year, we ended up paying a good sum despite insurance, thats what I'm worried about
 
If he is your boss, I would suggest to avoid talking to him. If he is generous enough or if he feels that he was also at fault then he himself will contact you regarding the damages being your superior and all .... but if he doesn't that means either he doesn't wanna pay and is trying to avoid you or he thinks it was totally your fault. In that case its best to avoid confronting him since you never know when you might need him in future.
 
he is not my boss, but he heads another of the 5 units that make up our trivandrum office. So i dont have much to lose

He's biosbhai's big boss though :P
 
lol if you are car cover with insurance? u can pay half price

but part will replament new if they has stock from facotry at tata product

u need u spend for bumper + paint and some extra feactyre part such horn and talilight cost upto 10-14k is extra dont ask many question to this service center they might get abused or not able u do good service center ;)

yeah man cheer up, if it helps, my first bump was at over 100KMph into a divider, and I had no insurance :P
 
Find a contact in the service center, he'l do all that you want..Tell him to claim extra and get his cut too..but its hard to find such ppl..

I knew a person with karizma who would get things like tank and all(dont remember) changed even if very lil damage..The guy doing it would earn his cut through over claiming even further..

the why is the thread titled 'first bump'? :P

i think you should go and have a talk. maybe you could just go over and say sorry or something like that. depending upon his mood/reaction you could ask for reimbursement.
