Storage Solutions First gaming rig...Hard Drive Failure.

hey,
After one of the most agonising waits of my entire life I finally get my gaming rig.But guess what my WD Blue 500GB refuses to get detected.I here a few clicking noises when the comp starts and then it says "3rd Master hard disk error"."Press f1 to continue".
I'm really pissed off and frankly I now feel that my all the components are going to be defective.:(
BTW the whole experience of buying was ok...Ankit Infotech were not too arrogant and they gave me a good deal(i think...).I bought everything from them and got it assembled by them.Here's my future sig. Will use it when I actually have a working rig.
Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 555 BE
Motherboard: ASUS M3A785T-M
RAM: Kingson(2*2GB) 2GB DDRIII 1333MHz
GPU: Sapphire HD5770 1GB GDDR5 (weird cooler...not batmobile or egg-shaped)
HDD: WD 500GB Blue AAKS 16MB buffer
Cabinet: Cooler Master CM310
SMPS: Corsair VX450
Optical Drive: LG DVD R/W SATA
Got everything for 36k(inclusive of VAT).
So I called ankit infotech and they told me to bring it in tomorrow.So will they replace it immediately in case of a DOA or will I have to wait for them to ship it to some far off part of the world and then ship back a replacement??:huh:How long will I have to wait??I'm new to this whole buying a gaming rig thing...
 
Ankit is a reputed dealer in SP Road. Do remember that their shop will be open on Sunday only till 1pm I think. when did you purchase that HDD by the way?

I purchased it today afternoon...so what exactly is the process?will he give me a replacement?
 
he should give you replacement as it is inside a day. my suggestion for you is to return it and pay a bit more and get seagate 7200.12 or WD black 1Tb (5k). Seagate service centre is just above citibank/sbi atms (near sp road) and they are very quick in service. last time, I dropped my hdd and they replaced it in two weeks.
 
So your saying I should get a seagate because the service center is close to SP road?i'll talk to him about that.Waiting for two weeks is out of the question, I need to get the computer working check all he parts and then take it to my hostel in Mangalore tomorrow night.
The engineer at Ankit asked me to get there at 12 tomorrow.I'm hoping they just replace it.

not just that. 7200.12 speeds match that of WD Black and is far ahead of WD Blue. And their firmwares look much better now.

I dint know that.I picked WD blue because everyone seems to be recommending it.Will consult my dad first and decide.Already pushed my budget too far.

hi guys,
I went back to ankit and he immediately exchanged after checking the hard disk.
I've been busy installing the OS and drivers.

I got it for 4950 + 5% VAT.My dad was with me.I think we dint bargain too hard, we just gave up after a while.

not sure if this is the batch no.These are the only nos i can find on the box.

Definitely planning to try unlocking just need to see if the system is stable otherwise.Will try later this week.

Seagate has indeed reduced warranty to 3 years from 5 Years....

I got a the same WD blue 500GB.Any idea about my cpu batch no?
 
^... Ohh... didn't knew that.. but then since there is a window on the box where CPU is placed, one can easily see the batch no. :)
