If all bachelors, then -
  • Stay at Nasa Vegas, good hotel, on the outskirts though. But 15 minutes to airport on BTS. I had booked through Agoda.co.in, Rs.750 a night. For a hotel of that stature, in India it would be 3k-4k a night. Get rooms facing away from the BTS station. Look around for other deals too at other hotels/locations.
  • Electronics/LCD/LED only go to Pantip Plaza. Dont waste time anywhere else.
  • Convert INR to USD in India itself. And convert USD to Baht when there.
  • Leave for Pattaya soon after you reach BKK
  • Stay/shop in Bangkok for 2/3 days before departure
  • Try out the street food. Dirt cheap and totally worth it. Very hygienic too.

Hey I meant leave for Phuket right after you reach BKK. Mind you, Phuket will be expensive than BKK/Pattaya. And Google beforehand for the common tourist scams.

thanks asid :) going to be in bangkok for 3 days thn headin to phuket.. not goin to pataya

any idea abt 32inch lcd n led prices. brands any.. is the warranty valid in india ?

which is the best cellular network .. wher can i buy a simcard ...shud work in bangkok n phuket ..lookin for sumthing with a good data plan for 10days .. calls rates dont matter :)

I suggest not to do the jet ski at Phuket as I have read about their scams on tripadvisor and one neighbor in my building too was a victim. He had to shell out more than a lakh rupees for damage to jet ski which he never did. Even the local police is involved.

lakh of rupees.. whatttttttttttttttt..... m not interested in watersports anyways.. but shall warn my friends abt it ....thanks for the tip :)

Think I used the DTAC Happy SIM card with bundled Internet. You can top up the Internet pack. If your departure is from BKK, I suggest you go to Phuket first, and then come back to BKK. Logistics basically.

finally visa sorted... :yahoo:

need tips on where to get a good deal on led 32 or 40inch in bangkok ....any idea abt prices ? is warranty applicable in india ? wiil appreciate if u could provide me the exact store name n its location :)

heard that clothes are a cheaper there..any idea abt where to go shopping in bangkok ?

Many people here have bought TVs from Bangkok so yes you will good deals. Pantip Plaza is what i have read the most on the forums. Google for exact location and nearest subway station. No warranty in India.
Clothes are cheaper there, not very cheap though, bargain for everything. Siam is for branded stuff i guess. MBK is general. Platinum shopping mall is what i saw was mostly for girls and ladies.

Personally I would skip bangkok completely and do phuket, phi phi, krabi, koh samui & koh phangan if i'm going to thailand. bkk is too commercial for me. you can have an amazing time if you take up diving at phi phi island.

+1, if leisure holiday is what the OP wants, then skip BKK, Phuket is good, Phi Phi Islands is also good and that blue water and all, had seen only in movies previously.

guys are tablets cheap in bangkok or phuket.. need to get one for a friend within 7k budget .. also a friend has asked to get iphone 4s cases .. r they cheap there.. where do i buy it from need to see u a good variety of cases mite pick sum for myself ;)

it was mentioned earlier that you should convert INR-->USD-->Baht, dont do thatm you are doing a conversion twice and losing on good money, do an estimate of hoe much you would spend sureshot, convert them out here itself before hand directly to bahts, carry alot of 1000 ruppee notes, you can do a direct conversion there too, they accept high denomination indian currency.

Dont convert to USD at any rate, doesnt make sense.

Also if you are purchasing a high value item like a TV or so, buy on cc or withdraw cash from an atm. i had purchased a tv and withdrew cash from an atm and paid, much simpler than seeing the additional cc tax rates etc in the bill , confirm before hand with your bank on the additional rates.

USD to Baht was suggested because you wont get good conversion rate for INR to BAHT anywhere. If you calculate, you'll save almost 500 for every 20k INR of INR->USD->Baht conversion.
