rMBP - 256GB SSD and a new Crucial M4 256GB for an older laptop I have.

Quite fast, this rMBP.. haven't put Windows on it yet though.

Congrats :) ... This reminds me to upgrade my MBP too....

I dont think you can get a 256Gb for 8k... This has got to be quite expensive...

You can, OWC puts out a kit for this. Stupidly priced though, I just use an external USB 3.0 drive.

Yes, the RAM is soldered on the mainboard for the Retina Display MacBook Pro. MacBook Pro with Retina is designed with precise engineering, even iFixit faced issues while tearing it. The repairability score is too low, so in that case it is difficult to upgrade the HDD too.
 
Bump for awesome Apple service- just got the entire laptop replaced due to a faulty screen - it started dimming and the image was very very shaky.. they took it over the counter and replaced it in 2 days. Good service!
